In this episode, we will talk about the 2024 politics and the election season that is coming up. We will break down how religion is one of the major factors in Indian politics and how it dictates the decisions of the majority of citizens. We will also talk about the positive and negative of the current government and why we need a strong opposition.

This was an in-depth conversation about economics with none other than the former RBI Governor Dr. Raghuram Rajan. I hope you will like this knowledge-packed conversation and do not forget to share your thoughts in the comments.

Apple cannot manufacture in usa because of very high costs...so they have outsourced to china...India needs lot of manufacturing opportunities for creating high low end jobs..

Foxconn's annual revenue: $214 billion
Number of employees: 767, 000

Apple Revenue: $384 billion
Number of Employees: 161, 000

Which one is better for a country like India that has a huge population and needs as much employment as possible?

For an entrepreneur, the Apple model may seem ideal, but for a country, the Foxconn model holds greater significance. Foxconn employs around 700, 000 people and generates $50 billion, while Apple has 150, 000 employees. On this planet, there is only one Apple, but there are many companies like Foxconn. It all comes down to perception and how you choose to approach success.

This is the lousiest argument ever…. Before high end jobs were shot for by USA, it was a manufacturing powerhouse…. That is what built its middle class economy for all of 20th century…. Generating capital and market for high end tech jobs in 21st century. Without having a robust base, you cant just rely on a few high end jobs to pull the entire 1.4B up. Sp glad this guy isnt advising Modi 👍👍

Only manufacturing can create huge jobs, India need huge jobs. Designing is a huge niche sector, not every person/engineer can do it. We need both. What kind of financial expert this guy is. God save my country.

Today, listening to Mr Raghuram Rajan I can imagine the policy damage he must have done during his tenure as RBI governor.

Small and mid sized companies actually constitute a lot in a country’s economy. Take the example of Germany. Although they are the pioneers of automobiles and home to almost all the car brands we dream of but the backbone of the economy is actually small and medium scale companies. He is talking about Foxconn; Foxconn not only manufacturers iPhones but also other brands in turn helping these brands to get a market share.
Similarly the German car makers don’t manufacture entire car in-house. At least for IC-engine cars there are thousands of parts and they can’t manufacture entire car on their own. So we can’t ignore the company manufacturing seats or tyres or any other car part. Compared to Mercedes and BMWs of the world these companies are obviously small or medium scale but they actually help bringing these cars on roads. So Foxconn is as important as Apple.

He’s a politician like any other; he did such blunders that almost shut down the Banks in India. He’s the NPA Minister 😂

If we don't manufacture the bulk and the low end how will we develop capabilities of designing a chip, a cutting edge hardware or a new tech? Our manufacturing sector should have been 10 times bigger but instead we have armchair philosophers like Raghuram who have sold their souls to Italian bandits.

Manufacturing can give endless job opportunities for masses, hence it would be a great opportunity for countries like India to enter in manufacturing and make products for the world 🌎🌍

I see lots of people don’t realise India already has Design and R&D centres for many of silicon manufacturers like intel, nvidia, google (pixel design), Texas Instruments, Infineon, arm, amd, analog devices, stm, micron etc etc., not sure about Apple though. We already do many of pre-silicon development till RTL design and verification( i.e. everything till tapeout), and then post-silicon development like validation, characterisation, testing and also along with this we develop firmware/sw driver, software support package creation, tools development, and then post production support including pcb design, development manufacturing and assembly for evaluation kits. So the only hole in this chain (and a major one) is Silicon wafer manufacturing and chip fabrication/manufacturing, packaging and testing which is done in the dedicated Fabs. And this is what we’ll soon be able to do once we have the technology for fabrication!

I don’t expect such arguments from such highly educated ppl

I believe there may be a misunderstanding. Foxconn is a manufacturer that assembles Apple products, but the core design, including silicon, software, camera, and display, is primarily done by Apple's engineering teams.
