Pantheon was a story of romance in the end.

The emptiness I feel after watching this one I hadnt felt since I first saw Interstellar. Pantheon was amazing and a breath of fresh air for tv shows.

So this is the explanation for those of you who didnt understood.

The "Orginal" timeline is not the one we watched.
In the "Orginal" timeline Maddie never told by the Safesurf timelords about the future that will happen in 117, 649 years, she never got the reason to wait and build a Dyson Sphere.

We dont know what happened to her or anyone else then. What we do know is that in that timeline Safesurf were able to evolve into cosmic beings and create the same thing "our Maddie" created.
They did it in order create a version that will match the timeline they came from, the "Orginal" one, in order to thank Caspian for encouraging them.

That timeline they created in order to thank Caspian is the one we watched.
By doing so, they encourage "Our Maddie" to do the same as they did, so she can create a reality which she'll be able to change the events that happened to her son, herself and Caspian.

After she achived that goal "Our Maddie" wanted to go and live with Caspian inside one of the worlds she built without remebering anything and experience a happy life. a life which she will meet Caspian and they will be able to live a normall life.

I hope that clears couple of things.

The ending puts back into perspective the few seconds into episode 1 of season 1, where all other girls in Maddie's class fix their hair and cross their legs at the same time. A glitch in the matrix. Maddie's matrix. And the story begins anew.

Ok I think I have this mapped out.
In the “real world”, the “original” timeline similar events happened, UI’s were created, they created safe surf, and the ring where UI lived, and they were preparing to settle on alpha Centauri. In the power struggle, Caspian encourages safe surf to become something more and to evolve. This inspires safe surf to leave, and it manages to find alien life, which offers it the chance to meet In the galactic centre and become gods. Humanity does not make it there, and it is implied they end up destroyed, or left to their own devices, its unsure what happened in the real world. This was not the timeline we were watching.

As a thank you, safe surf at the galactic centre creates a “grand simulation” as a way for humanity to have “a chance do it all over again”, with billions of universes all with different outcomes. One of these universes is the one we watched in seasons 1 to 2. In this universe, safe surf observes its potential and reaches out to Caspian, telling him that Maddie and he will convene again in 117, 648 years. This prompts Maddie to continue working on the dyson sphere (something she didn’t do in the real world). Maddie creates her own dyson sphere (a simulation within safe surf’s grand simulation) with billions of universes for her to control and observe.

Maddie, intent on understanding how caspian knew about the 117648 years, finally finds a universe which perfectly follows the course of her own timeline. Maddie gets help from David Sr. prompting Caspian to upload, and get infected with safe surf. Maddie enters this universe, and starts plucking Caspian and David Jr. from death, (because this is now her universe to control, she is god). She reunites everyone, happy to see David Sr. and Jr. together (a universe within a universe) and MIST questions how Maddie has become a god, not knowing this is actually a second layer universe.

Upon this happy ending universe, safe surf pluck them both and explain that they created the grand simulation as a thank you to their creator, Caspian, who showed a human generated binding force: compassion. I believe that when safe surf sings that little tune, it means that the prophecy or whatever has finally been fulfilled, and that they have finally taken the right path. Safe surf offers them a chance to come to galactic centre and become true gods, a gift they were given by the aliens they met (thanks to Caspian). Maddie however decides that she does not want to do this, and wants to return to a simulation with Caspian, and forget everything about being in a simulation. She asserts that its inevitable that another version of Maddie from a different universe will choose to ascend anyway, so it doesn’t matter. Maddie enters her favourite universe with Caspian and forgets everything about being in a simulation, living in happiness, pain, compassion, and love.

It is unknown whether the “real world” where the safe surf gods are themselves in a simulation, or how deep the simulations go. This is up to interpretation, but I like to think that the safe surf gods have ascended to godhood in the “real world”, looking over their created simulation (likely a mega Dyson sphere), with all the other gods meeting at the galactic centre creating their own simulations. The theory that safe surf is in the "real world" is backed up by the fact that they say "from our event, all other events may be observed". The real world exists however many layers out, but all the ascended gods such as safe surf meet at the galactic centre, to create their own simulated universes.

you ever just ascend to godhood instead of going to grief counseling 💀

Crazy how incredible this serie evolved. I'm speechless.
One of the best thing I watched, ever.

I was worried this season would end in a cliffhanger. But no, it ended just perfectly. Not the ending I have imagined but truly a joy to watch from start to finish. Pantheon is one of the best stories that was ever told and i hope one day more peoplewould watch this and appreciate it as we all do now.

Masterpiece was a understatement for what this was. I don't have the vocabulary to describe the ride the show took me on.

Basically Maddie became god but wanted to experience life as a normal human again with no Meta-physical memories - basically Maddie wanted to roleplay/re-live herself in an alternative recursive timeline where she could fall in love and have a normal relationship and life with Caspian. There exists a statistical certainty that there are other recursive timelines where Maddie also creates a Dyson sphere and the various recursive timelines but instead chooses to work towards joining the other timelords (SafeSurf) - it's just statistical certainty - as she said "time isn't a problem". So for the first time, she gets to forget it all and restart her instance of life in a timeline of maximised happiness and fulfilment - basically she got the happy ending she deserves. :) + also, the timelords told Maddie the exact year she would need to work towards to find the recursion event that would lead her to discovering the timelords - that's because she was also existing in one of the timelord's recursive timelines - when the timelords were free and expanding into unknown space - they eventually came back to Maddie by implanting that point in time which they calculated they'd statistically meet. It'll be easier to understand if you do some research into recursive timeline theory. Really clever storyline - mind-blowing even :P imagine that after Maddie uploads she eventually encounters the non-recursive version of herself which explains everything, now that Maddie no longer wishes to re-live her best life, as she has already done so, she decides to venture into the unknown and find the SafeSurf timelords for the "Reunion". <<< Shame they didn't include this at the end of the show, but at least it leaves it to the imagination.

This ending made my existential crisis worse

Man, I love and hate fully-fleshed endings, they can be so compelling yet so sad. Amazing series, but now I feel rather empty)

It's cool how the teacher's lesson ties in the very first episode into everything. But when we first hear it, his voice fades into the background before we could hear all of it and it focuses on the class moving in unison instead. But finally, in the very last episode, we hear everything the teacher is saying loud and clear, and of course his discussion of Greek Gods mirrors Maddie, who is empirically a God herself. A great detail I wished more people talked about. You can tell they planned this out from start to finish.

Speechless after the final 2 episode of season 2.

Mind blowing ending, sad it's over. 10 Season of this stuff would have been awesome, but glad we got season 2, they really managed to make it as good (if not better) than season 1.

Thanks to all the creators who worked on this project, it was a wild ride.

They actually managed to capture the existential dread of "it's simulations all the way down." I felt the same way Maddie felt. Literally. Season 1 and most of season 2 felt like it had the strongest writing because it was a human story. Once we go to 20 years in the future, it feels wrong. You feel like Caspian. Displaced.

Jumping forward thousands of years after, you don’t know anything. For me, I started thinking how this all started as a story about a girl who got bullied and her dead dad. I liked it, because it felt real.

And then Maddie made the choice I wanted, her mind went to the same place I did.

A masterpiece of a ride. The ending actually kind of reminded me of how dark ended which is another masterclass of writing. Then tomorrow scavengers reign drops too, new ep of Loki and then Pluto comes out next week..We eating good, this must be sci fi heaven lol

Caspien: So you're basically god

Also Caspien accidentally inspires the evolution of even more powerful gods bound by compassion

Edit: Caspian

The last episode turned what was a good, fun adult sci-fi thriller into something that I will never really forget.

I have experienced media that's both worse and better than this show, but no piece of media in a very, very, very long time has genuinely surprised me and invoked such a unique response out of me.

I fell in love with Caspian. His character, his heart, is what connected me to the series. And Maddie has grown so much since the first season, I got so sentimental. I found so much love within her too. But I fell in love with Caspian, not because he was a man, but because he was human. Everything it meant to be human to me. And this show does a great job of feeling what I felt, love. This might be the strangest take away from it. But whatever you call it, real, fake, digital, or living. Love..is just love. I entered this show thinking it was just about technology. About the upload of the human mind. But clearly, it is so much more. So much more than simple minded person like me can put into words. It a show about the human experience, about human nature, "flaws" and all. But whatever you believe our existence to be, there is one constant, love always exists. Love prevails. Love wins.
