~ Back in April 2013, I've discovered this song with an Animash crossover, made by Pigeonomoutr & I had decided to make my own version. It was one of my very first "Committed Video" because this song deeply affected me. Today, It still does, so I've worked hard to make a Remake, with my current skills - and life experiences. I wanted to give this committed video a special "footsprint". This song is a little old now (2006) but not the subject. So I think it's necessary to remind people of what's happening in the shadow of some houses...

~ Story;

Yuki is a little 7 years old girl full of energy. Someday, she meets Alyssa, a little shy girl who barely talk to anyone. Yuki, very curious, goes to her and they become friends. But Alyssa has a secret. She let it know to Yuki who, completely in shock, immediately tell her dad. She is so worried for her friend, she is always saying lies to teachers and classmates. She hides her bruises, she falls asleep at school because she can't find sleep at home. Alyssa tries to enjoy school times but she can't. She doesn't fit in no matter how much she tries. Her life is so different from her friend's. They wouldn't understand. So she lies and Yuki knows that when Alyssa says "everything is fine" actually everything is not fine at all. Yuki can't stand this and is sometimes annoyed that Alyssa lies constantly.
Yuki's dad, is scared for his daughter, he knows he must do something. But next Monday, going to school, it's already too late...

Okay, time to sit down, take a cup of tea and dive into writing something about this little magnificence <3 You know already how excited I was about this project and you did deliver something amazing! First I love the fact that this video is put into a stylistic form that looks like a slightly damaged video cassette film from 1990's or early 2000's(I can see even the next cassette tape "frame" reversed underneath the lyrics!) because it just looks right for this song that sounds like a slightly old classic? Not exactly super old but not super modern either. Anyways, next. I am impressed how much of good editing you managed to make out of Yuki's aka the little Emilie's father. He has so little screen time yet you managed to somehow magically work through it. Again, as usual, you manage to choose just the right fitting expressions for each lyrics that is sung and also the balance between black text frames and moving clips is just about right to create enough dramatic feeling. I like how you created the prayer scene with masked Yuki and then some bubbles appearing as what she describes to God. And my gosh the news after weekend part T-T I got chills from the part where Alicia disintegrates into disappearing light dust. That's just the perfect allegory for her ascending to heaven. Brilliant clip choice <3 I remember when watching the video during the stream that I got very emotional, almost shedding a tear when I see and hear Alicia's heartbreaking yell "Stop"! Her death scene is brief but the viewer gets the exact idea what happened between Alicia and her dad. For something to be made in 5 hours I just can't... HOW? I need to stop asking how because that's Makana's skill for you! I loved it and can't wait for the possible sequel with Emilie <3 ;-;
