Why would you need a college education to work at Walmart?

So according to Kirk, a person going to college for free shouldn't defend going to college

Kirk's arguments are grossly flawed. He assumes that because employers have lowered their standards, therefore the previous standard was necessarily bad. This is fallacious -- as someone who has hired people in the past, we lowered some requirements simply to increase the number of applicants. Also, if the job itself does not need those specific requirements, then why would I want to pay someone more?

I have my master's degree only because my career path requires one. If I just wanted to serve coffee, I'd have no need for the degree; I could in my free time learn what I wanted to learn. If I went to Starbucks with a masters, they'd likely not hire me because they don't want to potentially argue with me about getting higher pay for being more educated.

So much of his argument is based on a deeply flawed premise. So while valid, his argument is not sound.

And there are good reasons why Charlie Kirks pick unprepared young students as debate rivals...

College isn’t a scam it teaches you how to learn and you have to understand how to apply that mechanism. That being said, your degree alone will not get you a job you need to understand the real world application and acumen needed for each field.

I enlisted in the Marine Corps out of high school, in an MOS that was more than applicable in the civilian world. While serving I used T/A to obtain an Associates and then when I left used half of my GI bill benefits to finish my bachelors degree. The jobs I had available to me with that degree were substantially better than those without one. College is not for everyone, but to call it a scam is oversimplifying the issue

The reason there are multiple job avenues made available to the public without the need of tertiary education is due to people with a higher education facilitating those pathways in the first place

I’m 3 out of 4 children and I’m the only one that didn’t go to college and make a lot more money and better benefits

College didn't teach me about time management or discipline. I had to develop that on my own and still had a GPA of 3.75 in both of my majors. I worked three jobs and took full class load and was the captain of my college debate team on the road 12 times per year. I gave up sleep and partying. But I paid for most of my college tuition before I left school.

No way should a someone be qualified to call college a scam when you haven’t finished college yourself

Charlie Kirk trying to convince people that college is a scam when he’s never been to college is hilarious

I made 117k last year as an electrical distribution system operator. Im not even topped out yet. No degree required. 30 years old. No debt. I support my wife and my two kids on my income alone and my wife is a stay at home mom. Thank GOD I did not go to college. I probably couldnt afford the house we live in now if I had

Please explain to me why Charlie is wrong when this kid clearly accepted that 25% of the people who attended become doctors and lawyers?
