Sunday Chat Friends For Different Things

I think joining or starting a club is the perfect way to make new friends:

This may seem like a strange concept but, I think once you realize it, it is freeing and allows you to appreciate your friends for what you have with them. I should have also touched on that friends get busy so it is nice to have other friends you can turn to.

This is so true! When we are younger it feels like we have those one or two best friends that are everything to us. Then as we get older that doesn't always seem possible. I bet another topic you could talk about would be how to expand your circle of friends as you get older. I know there was a time a few years back when I struggled with meeting women that were like me (many of our couple friends are GREAT but I don't fully connect 1:1 with the wife in areas that matter...if that makes any sense). I have a friend that I can only speak to about work related things and very light general topics, but nothing heavy. I have friends from my past who KNOW me and I can speak frankly about anything to them, but they live far away and we correspond by emails and phone mostly. It is easy to say "go out and make new friends!" but how is that done after you turn 40? I find many of the people I want to be friends with are very busy with husbands/kids/grandkids and projects and I am not sure how to be friendly with intent to be friends. I don't want them to think I am hitting on them, lol and I don't want to seem needy.Is there a good "method" for making new friends? Dale Carnegie I know...but...society seems more mobile and private nowadays. You share fleeting moments in store lines or grocery aisles or emergency waiting rooms and get friendly with people who soon disappear and you never see them again.

Great topic! I've noticed I do this more online, as I'm part of different communities. Fitness check-ins, homeschooling, and You Tube. Even You Tube has different communities, as I like Beauty, DollarTree and Vlogs. IRL, I was sort of forced to realize this when I went through a big change of core beliefs. I didn't want to lose those old friends, so started focusing on what we have in common. I hope you have a great Sunday!

I totally agree with you about having friends for different reasons. Most of my friends are not really into makeup so I am very thankful for my YouTube friends. This has been the first time in my life that I have been able to celebrate my love of makeup. What a celebration we have here on YouTube! To some people makeup seems superficial but when there are so many serious things going on in our lives it is wonderful to have a fun escape. Love you Elle...Laura

We have all the of the term "He is a man's man". I feel like you are truly a "woman's woman". You get it right. A lot.  I am so thankful for finding you. So true Elle! My make up obsession is not something all friends can follow. lol. When I realized that my current friendships ldid not like books as much as I do, I followed your advice and created a book club! Best thing I ever did. Running strong and just hosted our Christmas session at home. For exercising "my best friend" is definitely Mike. Anyway loving your friends for who they are enrich us and save us from many head/heartaches. Love that you made me think about this! Hugs from Calgary.

Great Video, I totally agree. We moved to a new state and had no friends or family  here. That was kind scary. Of course we still keep in touch with our friends back in Texas. We have meet a couple we do lots of things with and enjoy but it is not like being with old friends. I really miss my best friend but we call each other all the time. As soon as our home is built we will join the Corvette club and hiking club and hopefully meet some new great friends. :)Lauren

very true. I find as I get older this is more true and also as a child who was VERY shy and had one close friend, I now enjoy having a more wider circle of friends . Hope that makes sense!

I have friends I have met online in forums like beauty, pet, RA and such and over the years have become so close with some of these people its amazing. I can talk to them about things I can't share with my real life friends.Great video Elle. xoCathy

My only friends are on here as I don't cope with going out, especially since Zelly passed..I did a video on the puppy saga.I do wish people wouldn't lie in adverts.They shouldn't lie at all .Honesty can be painful some times but its way better then having people around that lie and play games .
