Here's my question

When they (by which, I mean literary experts) say that Don Quixote is a "satirical parody" of chivalric romance, what does that mean?

Most of the time; when I see the words "satire" or "parody, " I assume the piece is told through a negative light (like South Park or Family Guy.) This leads me to think Cervantes had a low opinion about Chivalry and the heroes based around the code.

Is this true or am I wrong
