Is censorship becoming the new normal? Does the media have a moral and professional responsibility to speak truth to power? Should there be limits to freedom of expression? As the geopolitical climate becomes increasingly unstable, governments the world-over are censoring freedom of expression as a means of preventing further political dissent. Trump’s branding of critical journalism as ‘Fake News’ is reflective of the wider global trend towards mistrust of the media.

The speakers:
Camilla Nielsson is a critically-acclaimed director (Democrats, 2014). Nagieb Khaja is a Danish journalist and war correspondent. He has reported from Afghanistan, Syria and Gaza for international TV-stations, including CNN and Al Jazeera.

The discussion took place in Copenhagen 20 March 2018.

WHY ARGUE? is a series of conversations about power structures, facts, media, and the right to ASK WHY. We invite you to an intimate and intriguing dialogue as known from the French Salon tradition.
