He was attentive to his daughters perception of the Santa and encourages her to think of him positively when she shows concern.. when shan tells him to put her down he overruled her because chris noticed she wasn't ready to be in that position just yet. It's sad to know what there were likely many times where Chris did genuinely good moves like this only for him to cave into his evil nature and throw it all away and end their lives..heartbreaking
