My 770 is 1.5 months old and today I noticed the poor surface finish and chatter from the same program I ran on the mill new that gave excellent results. I have never crashed the mill so I wonder if the ball nut like yours is loose?

looked like it was missing a pin . screw on half of the connection. This is years old. I'm sure you resolved the issue.

how much X axis backlash is acceptable? my 1100 is having this same issue, 3 months old. Same speeds and feeds cut like butter climb milling in the Y axis direction, but squealing and chatter in the X.

hi, i have a tormach 1100 and i have the same x axis backash problem. I already checked the center bearing and it looks fine. What other problem could there be for this problem?

no tormach in my future, too many options in the same price range,
