This track was written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman. This is the original mix by Phil Harding included as the double A-side single with When I Fall In Love released in November 1987. It was the highest debut single the week it charted at #2 which was Rick’s best performance for first week chart position. Interesting trivia is this was the first UK single from Rick released in CD format as his previous 3 singles from RCA in 1987 was not available in CD in the UK. The BPI allowed the CD format for singles to be recognised for the sales for the Christmas period in 1987. This allowed the record companies to release singles in CD format. The single was certified by BPI for Silver with estimated 250K copies sold/shipped in the UK. The single was flipped to My Arms Keep Missing You as the sole A-side in January 1988 with a brand new remix by Pete Hammond after the Christmas period to sustain sales/airplay. There was no music video or TOTP performance by Rick for My Arms Keep Missing You and it was never released as a single in the US. The single reached #2 in Gallup, #1 in Melody Maker, #1 in NME & #1 in The Network Chart but only the Gallup chart position is officially recognised today. The single reached #1 in Belgium and reached #7 in the European Hot 100. The song has never been included in the Whenever You Need Somebody album in any format until this May 2022 where it will be included in the remastered album for the first time since 1987. However, as the track was not part of the original 1987 album, the track was not remastered.
