The Roland MC-707 GROOVEBOX has everything electronic music producers need to create a song or perform a live set without a computer. The MC-707 is armed with an eight-track sequencer optimized for fluid production, our latest deep synthesis engine, a powerful sampler, massive effects palette and 16 ultra-sensitive pads for playing or sequencing drum parts, melodic basslines, or polyphonic chord progressions.

In this video, Peter Brown takes you through the sound engine structure of the MC-707 to demonstrate the sound design power that lies beneath the knobs, buttons and sliders.

About the Roland MC-707...

The MC-707’s eight-track sequencer is made for today's electronic-focused music styles and ever-evolving subgenres. The TR-REC step sequencer is just like those found on classic Roland drum machines, perfect for building rhythm parts quickly. There are also 16 ultra-sensitive pads for playing or sequencing drum parts, melodic basslines, or polyphonic chord progressions.

The MC-707 features our latest sound engine, which fuses virtual analog and modern PCM. It’s flexible, powerful, and lets you dig deep into its sonic capabilities. It has the sounds of legendary Roland rhythm machines and synthesizers that are the foundation of electronic music—including the TR-808, TR-909, TB-303, JUNO-106, and SH-101. But the MC-707 also looks forward, with modern digital and hybrid sounds perfect for creating future classics—today.

In addition to its deep synthesis engine, the MC-707 has a powerful sampler with on-the-fly recording that synchronizes to your project's tempo and works as an expandable platform that never gets stale. Keep things fresh with new loops, one-shots, phrases, and synth sounds—all available online.

Nice to see there's still a market for external beat making devices ❤

interesting, this is a pre-Covid-19 video, thanks for the updates Roland

This video actually explains why Roland invited number of youtubers to London for pre-release presentation and give to them first units to show what this instrument is capable of. I'm sure this is quite a good groove box, but before I spent my £ on that I'd need to see more.

hi! i love my mc707!, except..
..when opening a project, going on one tone track and "sound", it doesn't show the sound i used, instead A - 001
how to find which sound i use there?
by pressing shift/sound, it'll show neither information which sound from the database it is..., is there some sort of secret solution?

Wonder how well this will pair with the Jupiter X

Have you understood how the "scene chains" function works? I did not understand whether it is possible to save a scene as a set of clips and then call them in a chain without specifying the next clip number inside the clip.

Can you use the sliders & knobs to edit sound parameters? Like with a shift button?

Is there a scale mode? If not, please add it in the firmware update :)

Can you record user samples and use them chromatically as instruments (not drum kit), with fx etc and save those as Notes presets?

Do you know what would be the cheapest way to experience D-30 sounds via hardware?

Can you load sounds into clips whilst other clips / tracks are playing - this would make this unit the go to for live performance for me

Seems like a lot of menu diving. Maybe two MC 101's is a more likely choice for me. Also the MC 101 would be a portable choice.

I wonder how all these sound engine options translate to the MC101 and its smaller screen. The current handbook doesn't spill any of those "secrets" right now, sadly.

as much as i want this device, im probably going to get the force

this device would be really nice, but only having that one interchangeable effect kinda kills it for me :(

if it had 3 FX that could have the multi + the delay and reverb (or what ever this device has for FX)

also, it would make more sense for the device to be a bit bigger, and have an easier way of making sounds.

the tone engine is cool! i love that aspect, but it would be cool to see a wavetable synth, how hard would it be to add a wave scanning mode?

so you could take 4 waveforms and blend from one to another. and then you could have a sine FM modifier with a ratio adjuster. and boom, crazy fun house bass machine :D

or if you could have an app to make sounds for this synth, using a better GUI for this partial system
almost had me roland, just a few things that are big to me.

hopefully the next model builds off of this model, then i think it will be one of the best groove boxes of all time

Can you please respond to the question of will this machine do side chain compression? Thats kind of a big deal for many producers. I couldn't find any info in the manual.
