Been wearing the non-hooded version of this jacket for years to the office and conservation field work and love it. Have been very disappointed in how fragile so many clothing offerings from Patagonia and similar brands have become in pursuit of lighter weight. Get off trail in the bush or do any work outside and they flat out fail. This Workwear line is a solid exception, as are a number of “hunting brands” like First Lite that increasingly make some of the best all around backcountry apparel on the market, with far more utility and durability across a wide variety of activities.

Weight isn't just about what you're 'cramming' into a pack -- it's also what you're carrying ON your body. My down puffy weighs mere ounces, while that looks like a stiff, heavy Carhart jacket. (Oohwee -- just looked it up. That thing is 3.5 lbs!) I understand the durability issue if you're chopping trees and such, though my puffy looks and performs like new after 4 years on trails. You didn't mention one thing though -- that jacket has a great look for town wear.

I had 3 pairs of their hemp work pants, and the pockets failed pretty quickly in all of them. I wish they would use the pant material like Duluth Trading does. I loved them otherwise, but I won't buy from them again.
