Lyrics:
I fell in love again
All things go, all things go
Drove to Chicago
All things know, all things know

We sold our clothes to the state
I don't mind, I don't mind

I made a lot of mistakes
In my mind, in my mind

I drove to New York
In a van, with my friend
We slept in parking lots
I don't mind, I don't mind
I was in love with the place
In my mind, in my mind

I made a lot of mistakes
In my mind, in my mind

You came to take us
All things go, all things go
To recreate us
All things grow, all things grow
We had our mindset
All things know, all things know
You had to find it
All things go, all things go

If I was crying
In the van, with my friend
It was for freedom
From myself and from the land
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes

You came to take us
All things go, all things go
To recreate us
All things grow, all things grow
We had our mindset
All things know, all things know
You had to find it
All things go, all things go

The roughness to the track just works so well here. There’s an uncompromising bit of an edge to this one. My fave version.

I don't think any song has more remixes than this one. I can honestly say that no part of the show the bear made me cry but hearing this in it did.

I was so shocked hearing this on The Bear. Episode 7 was definitely the most thrilling and this song being used for the intro fit so well. It was such a calm moment compared to the chaos that would unfold within minutes.

Never heard of Sufjan Stevens before, but when watching The Bear and this came on, I actually paused the show just to find out who made the song. Great song! Looking forward to hearing more of his stuff :)

I first heard this song on David Byrne's website back in 2005, and it has been one of my 10 favorite songs of all-time ever since

I listen to this song often. It's so emotionally cathartic. There are many versions of this song but THIS song is the only song for me. Bless you Sufjan. ❤

woah! I haven't heard about this show but now I'm gonna watch it of course. "Chicago" was also in "The Politician", I've never skipped the intro.

Hi i'm Larry from Italy
I first heard this demo version on an Italian radio program on a saturday night some years ago
The dj put this one on and i was litteraly puzzled!
i said "Woah!" this is great!"
The day after i logged on youtube and looked for the song, and sometimes later i' ve saved it on my internet usb musical key.Just great! Thanks Sufjan!
bye bye Larry Italy.

my second favourite version. first favourite - calvin college, 2004. "you don't know if you'll like it, " he said, about to play one of the most beautiful songs ever, to an unsuspecting audience who applauded something they had never heard. "you came to take us... to recreate us." could have been titled "new york." i guess the BQE is like his brooklyn album. in the way carrie and lowell, with all the b sides and the rogue river reference in mystery of love, is the oregon album. ore-gone and not coming back. all things go. we will have new heavenly bodies. as He was unrecognizable.

I went to this restaurant in my neighbourhood which reminds me a lot of the one in 'The Bear', it was my second time there and this time, 'Chicago' played and I told my girlfriend: "Wow, I haven't heard this song in a while...!" The same day, we watched on our show at episode 7, and boom, the show started with the very same song... 🤯✨
