"The year of Linux desktop is happening on Windows 11", indeed.

Run a Windows game recompiled to Linux in Windows with WSLg which is running Linux... Cool.

pretty cool...wonder if dave plummer has seen this yet. a month ago he posted a video getting pinball running on windows 11 and gave a nice history of development and porting on different architectures in the NT4 days

Now run a Teams video meeting on Linux and show it on Windows using WSLg.. Wouldn’t that be stupidly cool?

Even just 10 years ago, people would think this video is fake. WSL has made the choice of operating system easy. Windows + Linux without any VMs.

You are always doing some cool stuff, always a pleasure to watch one of your videos.

Very Cool!
I think Dave's Garage channel will like that, because he wrote the original space cadet pinball game.

Long Live Windows and Microsoft, very impactful company.

So, have you tried running Wine under WSLg yet then :)

Decompilers are a kind of weird magic. C is a simple enough language and the output would be understandable and may resemble the original source, but I have no idea what would happen if you turned a decompiler onto a binary written in a more complicated language like modern C++ or Rust. Like anything with an extensive pre-processor would have source that wouldn’t appear in the binary, deconstructing what a program does would be an insane task.

2:22 I REALLY hate how C never really developed its own packaging system and instead just uses the OS’s packaging to deliver binaries. Oh, your compile task failed because SDL changed a function signature and you need to link against the correct version? Good luck! Any language in the last twenty years was either built from the ground up with a packager, or has had one grafted on.
This wouldn’t be as much of a problem, except C/C++ is everywhere, and there’s 50 years of it, and Rust is the only systems language to even gain any traction in this space

The fact that Windows 11 can run a 25 Year old app so seamlessly, is a mind-blowing feat in itself!
But then to run it natively on Linux on Windows using WSLg is simply next level!
I mean seriously, we can do some REALLY crazy stuff with this setup.

It's not as easy to decompile/recompile programs as one might think. Quite hard. Especially when porting to another OS. I can jugde by my own experience. :P

Is Windows 11 stable enough for day-to-day development?

I never understood why windows didn't include solitaire, minesweeper and pinball to all their following releases....

I wish I could play them today. But I don't have my XP drive backed up...

Is there a way to get this games without ads today for win 10?

For the record:
THIS IS NOT MY WORK. I JUST PUBLICIZED IT.

Other than that, great video!!

I vote for ski free :D. The surfer game hidden in edge is great but it just doesn't have that nostalgic feel.

Does the game actually work on modern, 64 bit architectures? Or is collision detection broken as originally claimed?

great video.
I need the tool that you use to make arrows and squares during the record ?
