WMG is an academic department at the University of Warwick and is the leading international role model for successful collaboration between academia and the public and private sectors, driving innovation in science, technology and engineering, to develop the brightest ideas and talent that will shape our future. Within the department, the Intelligent Vehicles Directorate leads research in the areas of Verification and Validation, Connectivity and Communications Technology, Connected and Automated Mobility Systems, Sensors, and Human Factors. The Directorate has an impressive list of facilities including the WMG 3xD Simulator for Intelligent Vehicles, The Communications and Sensors lab for 5G and perception sensors R&D, vehicle workshops, a large selection of test and measurement technologies from world-class technology leaders such as National Instruments, DSpace, Rohde & Schwarz and Spirent. The group also has access to automated vehicle technology platforms including two RDM Aurrigo low-speed autonomous vehicles, The Catapult Open Innovation Vehicle Platform fitted with a drive-by-wire system, advanced sensor suite, communication and computing equipment.
The group is an experienced partner in EU projects and is currently part of the high-profile L3PILOT and HI-DRIVE projects. In addition to this, the group has an extensive record of collaborations in CAM through Innovate UK-funded programmes.
