Dion Amato's GMKILR Ford Falcon FG 3.7L XR6 struggles for traction on the dyno. Boosted by a huge Garrett GT55 turbo and running on methanol fuel the Ford sure is loud!

Because the car is running on straight Methanol fuel which if you have ever been around is horrible on your sensors.

While displacement does = bore x stroke x cylinders, changing the length of the rod doesn't change the stroke. The distance the axis of the crank throws from the axis of the crankshaft determines the piston stroke measurement and therefore displacement at any given bore / number of cylinders. Using longer rods / shaving the deck of the block will reduce the displacement at the cost of increased compression, which is probably why they're running methanol and not e85 at this power level.

Straight pipes sound awesome on a Barra.

Gee, it has so much power it looks like it's taking a shit when it's revved on the dyno.

Sketchy dyno. Love the vent to atmosphere flame

well having it up on one roller mean less friction, and makes bigger numbers

I've always wanted to see what a de-stroked barra would do. 6.5-7k rpm is doable at 4L - surely you could get 8k rpm at 3.6 or even 3.8, thus making insane numbers.

I guess there is replacement for displacement. Less stroke = Higher RPM. With only 2 gears and a big power house, a setup like this would benefit from a high rpm motor with
wider smoother transition in power.

yes dry ice in the boot, yes it is the same owner and tuner and engine/driveline out of his 8secon XD. This ute is aiming for 7s shortly. See how it goes at the track over the next few weeks! Records coming shortly! Only took like 3 months to have this FG built as it lies infront of you in that dyno vid! None of this 3 year builts and one run on the track crap! Owner is Dion at Dyno-Mite

For drag's its got to do with wight transfer because the motor spins clock wise you get more talk to the right side of the wheel because the motor is spinning right.... well its hard for me to explain over the internet

yes! some people just don't know

The throw of the crank deciphers the stroke, not the rods

that car will rev higher and faster. thats why smaller stock engines rev higher. like the windsor 289 will rev alot higher and faster then the windsor 351. the 351 will produce more torque though.

I get where you're coming from, i've heard of this before but just looks so weird, a Falcon in left hand drive configuration

All engines have a power band so to speak. It's not a physical thing, its just the point where the engine is making the most power.
I used to work in a bike shop. We has " replacement powerbands" ( fan belts actually) on the walls for people such as yourself that didnt know any better.

So after talking to my father who was a mechanic for 35 years the best thing I and he could come up with behind destroking is an increase in revs, is this right?
