Tesla Resumes Giga Berlin With Train Delivery

For the first time, Tesla is using an industrial train railway.

Now, there are two railroad operators in the area. One is the DB, which is the national and major railway operator in Germany. The second is a private rail operator called Deutsche Regionaleisenbahn in short: DRE.

On March 28 I reported and quoted DRE a private railway owner, saying "We have learned that the railway is interesting for Tesla" - for example for material transports from Poland and the transport of cars to Bremerhaven for loading on ships. Because of DRE long freight trains can go directly to Tesla Giga Berlin.

If you look at the Giga Berlin's map, you will see that there is an unusual railway that divides the property of Tesla into two unequal parts. This short railroad connects Freienbrink industrial estate to the rest of the rail network - and would enable Tesla to handle logistics in an environmentally friendly manner. “The route could be used immediately. We are ready,” says Gerhard Curth, the head of the small train.

This unusual company is the owner of the approximately 3.5 km long single-track railway line (2 miles), which branches off the route from Berlin to Frankfurt (Oder) in the forest just before the catch gate. It is the German Regional Railway, or DRE for short, from Berlin-Charlottenburg. The question then was "is Tesla even interested in railways?"

Apparently, Tesla is very interested in this railway.

Today, for the first time we see Tesla using this railway for gravel delivery for the Berlin Gigafactory's road construction.

Cool, this should speed up construction. Rail is more efficient than diesel trucks too. Deliver cars by rail? Easy to deliver cars by rail around Europe.

The use of rail for aggregate is not critical for this project. It seems to me that Tesla is testing the system. I hope that it runs well. It could likely be a win for both parties.

Really good to see gravel been brought in on private railroad and it would be nice to see topsoil going out on same train.
When You said this 3.5 km private spur line divides the property in half is bad news for them. This line will have to be relocated so it is not in the middle of phase 2.. It probably be best located between phase 1&2 or between phase 2& 3. Better idea tell little 3.5 km to get lost and have major railroad that connects all of Europe to build up to 3 spurs onto property exactly where You need on property. I was surprised to learn trucks can only use right lane and only on weekends or Autobahn. THESE ARE MY IDEAS AND GREAT EXPENSIVE AUTOBAHN INTERCHANGE PROPOSED BUT I WOULD BE SURPRISED TO SEE ACTIVITY ON FOUNDATIONS FOR 2 MONTHS AND MORE LIKELY 2 YEARS

I sure I gad seen videos of fairly heavy equipment being used to put in some pretty heavy duty electrical cables. . . at least a month ago. . .

Was there a old road there before? I see a track sign. The fence looks to been cut and pulled back does not look like a gate.

Does the railway you have shown define the Eastern boundary of the Tesla property from North to South?

These wagons look very under-filled; there could be a lot of stone they wont be able to unload with that type of machinery

Modern trains run diesel generators for electricity to actually move the train with electric motors fully electric trains are going to happen as the main rail transport providers.

What the use of the gravel there? Do You think they are building a train depot around the track?
If the track is in the middle of the factory, would they build under pass or overpass or move the track?

Note: This is the opposite of the Fremont factory which has a freight station build inside the factory.
Previously Toyota and GM at this location were using a fleet of tree-level Autorack wagons.
But Tesla little by little is removing the tracks, in particular to build new productions lanes using industrial tents.
Originally Tesla was producing only few hundred Model S and X a day, so truck transportation was more flexible and even quicker than freight trains.
Nowadays, Tesla build at least a thousand cars a day, so in Fremont trains would be worthwhile but I don't see happening.

If TESLA make its won highway, does it mean it can take road tax from any vehicle who run on that road..?
