I actually got a fake pokémon fire red and sapphire along with a yellow, there all fakes, but surprisingly they still worked on the gba

For every gameboy pokemon game except for firered and leafgreen you would also notice that fakes will not have a battery on the front. Gen 1 and gen 2 games needed the battery to save and the gen 3 hoenn games needed a battery for time based events

You can spot the fake one by looking at the outline of the Version name the outline should be thicker you can see this difference in the video itself hope it help
