Kinetic Architecture at The Bund Finance Center in Shanghai

There was hardly any information about the Fosun Foundation building other than a few architecture websites with general articles based off of official press releases. So during my visit to Shanghai, I've done some digging and visited the building several times to find a person who spoke a little English and had general knowledge about the building. It's incredible that the majority of people working around the building were unfamiliar with the building, and its unique feature.
After I came back to the States, I was finally able to find the website, and I have the link at the bottom. The website must've been published after I left Shanghai.
Fosun Foundation occupies the kinetic building, designed by British architectural firms, Foster + Partners and Heatherwick Studio. The building is located at The opposite end of the touristy Bund.
The Fosun Foundation building is located about 15 minutes walk from Yuyuan Garden. Just look up towards the roof of residential houses and look for clusters of modern buildings nearby and walk towards them.
Every 2 hours from 8am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and so forth the Bronze Bamboo facade starts to gently rotate around the building for about 10 minutes.
During the hot summer months, if you get to the area too early, there is a cafe on the ground level of the building. Also, an air-conditioned underground shopping center is located nearby.
The temp was hovering around 100F with the humidity in the upper 90% when the time-lapse was shot.
While you are at it, stop by Gu Chang Park on your way back to a metro station near YuYuan Garden. It’s a small park with beautifully manicured bamboo trees with winding paths that will lead to a small self-service outdoor cafe with chairs and tables offering varieties of refreshments and light snacks. You’ll definitely feel the cooler temperatures and be hanging out with locals at the park is an experience you'll not forget.
