You don't really need to convince 12 people:
You need to convince 3 people, make 3 people totally lost but too embarrassed to admit it, have 3 people too nervous to voice a dissenting opinion, and 3 who just want to get home to watch the game.

My ex wanted a jury trial for a custody suit. The jury came back in 14 minutes with a unanimous verdict of awarding me sole custody. The wanted to set visitation but the judge wouldn't let them.

We deliberated for 11 hours on a homicide a few years ago, the first 7 hours we talked about the facts of the case, last 4 was deciding on if it was negligence or not..longest two weeks of my life but I felt we did right by the justice system..

Within an hour, i would think the jury did a poll, everyone agreed, then went over the paperwork they have to do and who is gonna speak for them in the group

The CGI of bro crumbling😭💀

Edit: This argument is so stupid. CGI means “Computer Generated Images”. Hence, any image or video generated with the help of a computer is considered CGI. Since AI is just an algorithm, any image or video it makes IS, by definition, CGI.

A year after graduating high school maybe the following June I got summoned for jury duty then got picked to stay. It turned out to be a murder trial. I was there for the entire week. On Friday we took about 6-7 hours to deliberate started that day around 11am left the court house to go home at about 9pm. Felt really weird going through that whole process being so young. Point of this is to highlight how long it took us to agree/convince people from one side to the other.

Chili's is okay, Applebee's is disappointing every time I have gone, Outback Steakhouse is tasty, and I've always had good service.

My first time on a jury we decided to skip the “small talk” and just do a show of hands. We were unanimous and had a verdict in under 5 minutes. We felt if we had not been unanimous that we would go around the room and discuss what our thoughts were; we got really lucky.

People are generally easily led. Having your life in the hands of a jury of your "peers" is terrifying. People acguiesce just to have the process over. This is similar to the way police wear people down to get false confessions. Jury verdicts get overturned quite often as well.

As someone that was recently a juror, even cases that should be obvious there will always be at least one person that says "but". And i mean painfully obvious. Like the defense admits they did it obvious. There was still one...

There was an FMLA retaliation case in Rhode Island Federal Court a tried about 7 years ago. While the jury was deliberating, we went across the street to a restaurant to have lunch and before our food came out, I got a phone call from the court saying the jury reached a verdict. I knew instantly we had lost and I didn’t have the heart to tell my client while we were walking back to the courthouse.

Iv been in two juries where it was literally just "how about we just go with the majority and go home"

Forcing people to drop everything for no compensation is one of the most damaging aspects of our legal system

Under an hour?? You couldn't organise a lunch order for 12 strangers in under an hour!

Having been on a jury that all agreed, we almost came back within 1 hour but we felt that it wasn't a fair amount of time to give a fair vedict. So we debated for 2 hours about the losses the victim experienced and how we didn't want anyone to go through that. So we awarded her about 5-6x what her lawyer was asking for. I wanted 10x but we were concerned that would pop up some kind of appeal, and we didn't want her to have to wait for appeal.

The greatest civic experience I ever had was serving on a jury. While a civil case we all came to a unanimous verdict ... it wasn't even question of convincing anyone ... we all simply looked at the facts and agreed on what they meant. If gives some hope in these trying times.

What effect should we use for "the world is fracturing apart?"

"Untold horrors beyond our comprehension"

"Aight"
