I work for Medicare and to me deductibles and coininsurance are so difficult to understand and explain! This is better than my training class! I will show this video to my trainer so he can play it for my class!! We need more videos like this to help us agents understand, if we don’t understand it imagine our elders.. they deserve to know the truth how it can affect their pocket or how it save them money by choosing the right plan! Thank you 🙏🏼

I'm confused as to why the barchart comparing 2024 to 2025 costs shows 25% for initial coverage. I thought after the deductible, initial coverage consisted of copays/coinsurance based on drug tier? Regardless, it's my understanding that roughly 80% of people on Part D never even reach their deductible in a year. In Illinois, for example, my premium will increase by 85.2% in 2025. But I guess I should consider that my "fair share."

I enrolled in Medicare part A when I was 65. I'm still employed and have insurance through my employer. Therefore, I haven't taken Medicare Part B. If my employer insurance doesn't have a $2000.00 out of pocket drug plan, can I take Medicare Part d drug plan to avoid the penalty and not enroll in Part B? Will this force me to drop my employer insurance and take Part B and D?

Yes, the people who need lots of tier 3 and tier 4 drugs, and even a tier 5 drug, will love this. They not only have a $2000 cap, but they can spread this out over the whole year, which he didn’t explain in the video.
But somebody's gotta pay for this, and it's going to be the 95% of people who don't need $2000 of drugs per year. Their premiums, deductibles and co-pays will be going up. Drugs will be assigned to higher tiers, and formularies will become smaller, i.e., fewer drugs on the list.
So when you hear politicians saying that they lowered drug cost, the truth is different for 95+ percentage of the people.
