2020 Mazda CX-30: Review — Cars.com

The 2020 Mazda CX-30 is here and we're ready to review it. It’s an all-new small SUV and while Mazda had the CX-3, it was too small for American taste.

The CX-30 has power, good safety tech, and is fun to drive. The cargo space is average, and the multimedia system is behind the curve.

For the exterior, there is little decoration and some subtle side shaping. It’s a good choice if you want your friends to think you spent more money than you actually did. For the interior, it is quiet and has higher quality materials than other subcompact SUVs on the market.

The body motion is well controlled and steering is precise, but it’s not an off-road vehicle and bumpy city street do bring up some choppiness. It does have a backup camera, but without standard guidelines.

The base CX-30 starts just under $23,000 with front-wheel drive.

A lot people criticize the Mazda infotainment system and never realize how simple it really is. 95% of what you need can be done through the steering wheel controls or simple shortcut buttons. The short learning curve ultimately leads to less distractions and less fumbling with the touchscreens like other car systems. Ford Sync is a frustrating, clunky pos. Ram’s uConnect is by far the best if you have to have a touchscreen.

I love the infotainment system. I find the little wheel perfect for using while driving. Yes it took a couple of days to get used to, but then it was superior while actually driving, not sitting in a demo at a dealership.

All Mazda’s look the same but in a bigger or smaller package

I wish they used the black wheels and trim on the CX-30 like on the 3 Hatch. The polymetal looks so good, and the black wheels would hide cladding a bit better

Everyone praises the Mazda design language but I think the blazer looks better

Mazda makes great cars, but I'd still rate the Kia Seltos over this.
