Sawyer Squeeze vs Sawyer Mini

Choosing a Sawyer water filter can be tough. We put our Squeeze up against our Mini to find out once and for all which is worth carrying. Are the weight savings worth the extra filtering time? Only you can decide that, but we give some real-life numbers to work with. Both sawyers in the video have years of use with regular backflushing. Both were backflushed right before the test. Enjoy!

I have a Sawyer Mini. And I think I will buy or 4 more. One for the Jeep, One for the Kayak, and one for each of my kids. The mini works really nicely on a gravity feed straight into my camel pack. The squeeze is neat, but it sure seems like a lot of work

I made a kit out of a Sawyer mini gravity feed through it, instead of squeeze.
Hook up hoses to both ends of the Sawyer mini. You can even add an off switch valve. A gravity feed from a 10 L bag, a customized Nalgene water bottle lid to fit the bottom of the water filtration bag and I simply gravity feed from the 10 L bag down through the filter and hoses into my own bottles .
Katadyn makes the bag that I used on top of my filtration system. The Nalgene lid fits the bottom of the. katadyn bag and I believe the bag is 10 L it could be eight I’m not sure, but it makes for a very compact kit. If you’re counting ounces suck the water through the bottle it’s lighter in weight.
