An absolute paragon of communication. Thank you for all these videos and your commitment to explaining the details of the game.

I agree with the majority of advice from this channel, but I’m gonna have to disagree with this one. As a defenseman, I have found it extremely effective to knock the puck away by making contact with the opponents stick. If the puck is either connected to or in very close proximity with the players stick, all I have to do is move their stick in order to get them to lose control (much bigger target). I would argue that having separation between your puck, and the stick can sometimes be advantageous.

I have no interest in or understanding of hockey, but this perfectly explained a hockey concept i had been curious about in a way that made me appreciate it's importance.

He makes a good point. If the puck is on your stick and you are strong on the stick, that’s better. But if you watch mcdavid, he actually does the opposite. He passes to himself. He puts the puck to a space where he can get to it first. It doesn’t help to check his stick, because the puck isn’t on it.

Probably the best advice I’ve seen from this dude tbh. Small details are vital for in game situations (obviously)

I will put these tips out there if kids are learning from these videos. Does not matter which skill you are developing, practice, practice, practice. Skater coming at you, close gap to about a stick length and a bit more. Keep your stick side elbow tight to your body. When oncoming p[layer is ripe for the plucking shoot your stick out the full length of your arm. Gets them every time.

That’s just common sense. I learned that when I was 7 just by watching hockey players, …

You protect the puck with your body, not the stick. Leaning hard on your stick will not stop a defender from knocking it off your stick, kids. Watch Sid protect the puck. He’s the best player in the world at one on one battles and a lot of the time he’s got onehand on his stick. This is not good advice

The problem with that approach is that the less distance between the puck and your stick makes it easy for the opposition to push or hit the front of your stick which will release the puck a lot easier.

Lmao, watch mcdavid, always separates from puck.
