The guilt you feel for calling off sick when you’re genuinely sick is a sickness of its self- According to Nicole

You caught on quicker than most people do. I'm glad you were able to get yourself out of that rut.

You nailed it with this video. I'm 62 and have been totally self employed since I was 29 but started at 20. I slipped back a couple times to working for the man twice for approx 1 year each on 2 diffefent occasions between 20 and 29 and that was enough to say "screw that" and make me never want to do it again. I don't make a killing and never have and never will but that's not my goal, and I do ok. Would rather die than have a boss running my life. Any regrets I have were due to my own mismanagement of my time, resources, or my own bad decisions. . At least no one else was doing it to me, and that's made it all worthwhile.

This video nails it. You are describing my work experience. I am 81 years old & working part time in retail. There is no sitting in retail. I am on my feet the entire shift. I lift merchandise, stack it & put it in big bins. I work at the busiest counter in the store & help one customer after the other. The line of customers never ends. At the end of the day I have nothing left. I go home, shower, eat & crash on the couch.

"Find something that makes you look forward to doing more on your time off than just grocery shopping and laundry and doom scrolling." ...and for a lot of people that is incomprehensibly difficult

I’m in my 60s and I am learning from you. I have finally found a side hustle that I would like to grow to a full business. You are wise beyond your years and I look forward to your videos.

Every time I get fed up with the modern world, especially ridiculous content creators, something like you comes along, and just like that, my faith is restored.

I'm leaving my 9-5 in two weeks and I couldn't be more excited. I'm not out of the rat race yet but leaving a shit job feels so good.

It's actually important to have the experience of working a few crappy jobs. Highly motivating.

My job is so physically demanding I can't do much in my free time except recover. Once i was pressured into having children there really was no time or energy available to make a change either. There's no way out.

We really shouldn't "mind" our job and it's absolutely unsustainable to tolerate constant harassment and soul-crushing conditions just for money. Dying faster, not sleeping well, and not living well just for money is a huge scam.

Working for someone else is a waste of time you'd never get back, This is especially true when you have a family. I have multiple side hustles and investments going all at once and quit my day job a while ago and don't miss it at all. Not to mention the amount of stress it saves me. We are not here to impress anyone and a modest lifestyle is suitable. Often than not, it's not what you make, but what you spend matters. I now have plenty of time to sniff out the absolute best deals around town and learned how to get groceries affordably, which is a big challenge for most ppl, including the ones working and making decent incomes. The name of the game is: Living below your means and not out to impress anyone.. Thanks Nicole

Probably an unpopular opinion but I’m actually not letting my teen get a retail job. I was so mistreated as a 16 year old cashier in Petco including an old man yelling at me and calling me stupid and making me cry for like $5 an hour back in 1998. I worked so many double shifts because other teens would call in sick last minute all the time and I felt bad leaving. Wasn’t worth it.

Love this. Many years ago I applied for annual leave to have time off around Christmas. My supervisor said …”No, you have to apply 18 months in advance “ In that moment I thought, they OWN my Christmas! I know they can’t approve leave for all staff around Christmas time but I can choose not to be a part of that system.

The 9-5 thing steals your creativity and dreams. I worked hard to purchase a house & it wasn't until the 2020 lockdowns that I took some vacation time (staycation) that I was able to do things around the house that I originally intended to do 5 years earlier! Whether it was hanging a photo, installing a cabinet or lights or setting up the laundry room and garage the way I wanted it - all of those things got put on the back burner due to the daily grind of work. And then with the 9-5 thing you get two days off, One day to relax and recover and the next day to dread going back to work! I only take vacation in 1 week increments because the worst part about long vacations is having to return to work. I would rather just do my time like prison and get out of there earlier (as in retire earlier)!

What's funny is that you are LUCKY if you even find a 9 to 5 job these days because most of the retail jobs these days always give employees crazy sporadic schedules that keep them planning their own lives on a need to know basis.

The 9-5, 40 hours week was designed in the 30’s and 40’s with a man in mind. It was ideal because he worked all day, and had a wife to do cooking, cleaning, and child-rearing. This model no longer works because there is no domestic servant to do all these things now that we have to be 2 income households due to voting for politicians who enacted “trickle down economics” and tax breaks for the wealthy, allowing a transfer of all the wealth created by the lower classes to the rich, and that’s why life sucks now.

This resonates Nicole. I worked for a large food retailer for 10.5 years in their eCommerce department. I was so burnout, stressed I became extremely depressed. I couldn’t enjoy any of my personal life because work took over. No paid overtime but worked overtime every day. Well, in April I handed in my notice and I’ve found a flexible, working from home job - 3 part time roles actually, and I’m soooo much happier & my life is more fulfilled, I feel healthy & I’m earning the same amount of money for 23 hrs a week work, from home, with my dogs and flexible hours. Life is good! I’m 40. You’re never too old to change your unhappy life

Hi Nicole. I see myself thinking, and doing many things, that other people criticize me for, and pull me down, to their pitiful level. Not only did they criticize me, they stole, the valuable things, I earned, that took, a long time to replace, to start again. Jerry from Anaheim, California USA.❤

Nicole, I just adore you! I don't think you realize how fantastic your communication skills are, not to mention how charismatic you are. It's rare indeed and I just love your rebellious quality! You should be on a talk show! I just know you'd make a huge hit!
