All this talk of Ronaldo holding Portugal back is media driven nonsense. In all seriousness, if you didn’t know Ronaldo was Ronaldo, didn’t know he was 39, and were just judging him based on just objectively watching him, there is no way you’d come to the conclusion that he’s holding the team back. The media is fixated on trying to bench Ronaldo and really don’t appear to accept he may be 39 but he has the fitness of a player a decade younger than his age. By comparison, I’ve seen no talk from the media about Southgate benching Kane. A player who looks like he’s struggling to move around the pitch at only 30.

The 3 haters of Ronaldo was on vacation
Stevie, Craig, Ale
Old stupid biased commentators, who had a failed football career and become a failed commentators

I can’t believe it ESPN did not have anything bad to say about CR7 today? They were so positive it’s actually funny, knowing all the talk is hate against him!

Ronaldo is a special player. Even at 39 I'd play him ahead of most strikers 😊

Respect to ronaldo for passing it to Bruno instead of taking the shot himself

Over two games, objectively, Ronaldo has been the best player of this Portuguese squad, followed closely by Pepe. The two oldest players have been the two most impressive.

The agenda that Ronaldo is holding Portugal back is crazy and anybody that says this does not watch the games or know anything about Ronaldo’s style of play these days. Ronaldo is a poaching striker that is elite in the box these days. The only reason he hasn’t scored is that Portugal has struggled to play the ball to his feet. Portugals attack has been great but they always mess up in the final moments and can’t connect the final pass correctly. Ronaldo received a single clear cut chance at scoring a goal the entire game and what did he do? He passed it and got an assist. Ronaldo has played well in my opinion for the low amount of service he has received

Despite Pepe being from my main rival club (FC Porto) as a Benfiquista all i can have for him is Respect! I would not imagine i would be saying this, but at the age of 41 he can still be a cornerstone of an entire high-level defense and that is something special tbh.

Notice how much more balanced and objective Don, Nedum, Gab, and Kay discuss Ronaldo? Dan, Craig, Stevie, Ale, Jules, and Ogden should take note. It was refreshing to hear an ESPN FC panel actually objectively discuss his performance instead of hyperbolically bashing him for clicks. In particular, Ogden appears not only fixated on doing everything in his power to constantly write articles advocating for Ten Hag to get fired at United. But he is once again on a mission to undermine and criticize Ronaldo in his latest article. Ogden really does not appear to accept that Ronaldo at 39 has the fitness of a player a decade younger than his age.

Seriously what's wrong with Bruno Fernandes??? He literally doesn't even hide it. The moment this team stop being selfish and passes the ball more they will become scary. This game could've been 5 or 4 goals for Portugal.

Ronaldo's quality is still there. He's still a penalty box predator and more reliable than Jota, Ramos

6 points with 5 goals and only 1 conceded
More than what Belgium France and England can say

Ronaldo slows Portugal down is utterly nonsense. I don't know what game they are watching. I don't know why the media, especially the British media, is trying to drag cristiano ronaldo down. And other media platforms get drag in to it. One thing I know is that Portugal is a better side than england right now. And none of the mediocre english footballers will ever come close to the skills and accomplishment of cristiano ronaldo. 😊😂
