This is such bs!! The shifter has a detente on it;
You have to pull up on it in order to shift into the reverse position.
It is designed so that no one can make that 'mistake'.

For Mercedes manual shifter in this era, you need to pull up before shifting into reverse. Either a driver is an idiot or they were trying to make unreasonable jokes. 🙄🙄🙄
