I watched the whole video, as you said, and I must say this is full of crap. This video is nothing but another attempt to fit in and appease the white people. So what if there is a curry smell, why do you equate it with something bad? Just because you have a fake accent, doesn't mean what you are saying is correct. Stop pleasing and start living your life, you don't have to be sorry for your culture and your way of life, none of the Indians should be. I have seen this trend with NRI social media profiles, they are trying very hard to fit into the white people society at the cost of losing their own way of life.

This is a long-awaited public service announcement. Many of us have been subjecting our fellow humans to this torture, especially in public transport where other passengers can't really escape. This is basic courtesy that we have to show to people we share the space with. Hanging jackets in a closed wardrobe is a very good advice. Thank you for making this video.

Trust me, it's not the curry for God's sake. It's just the hygiene. My roommate was Indian, and my floor was full of Sri Lankans, Bangladeshis, and Indians. Not even a single one of the Indian men used deodorant. Even after they shower, they will wear the same clothes. And the shared kitchen was a complete mess. After the Indians left for a private home, the Sri Lankans spent the whole day cleaning the kitchen. Even Thais, Arabs, and Indonesians eat curry. I actually have second-generation Singaporean and American Indian friends who don't stink and are extremely conscious about the stereotype. Most of the international students didn't want to be roommates with the Indians. Whether it was dating or finding a roommate, I noticed there was a stigma. Funny thing is that they think it's the curry when it's obviously not.

I think we need to invent a 'curry stink meter' and sell it to people who goes abroad.

Thank you for making this video. it's very informative and helpful. The issue is not exclusive to Indians. However, it has become an unfair and negative stereotype that can perpetuate the mistreatment of people suffering from this.

I live with four guys in the house one is indian, his room smels of amoniac, himself it does not smell of anything and it does not smell of food, only amoniac, I notice this is in indian shops, and even my third mother she is from a tribe from India probably bought something from indian store that smells as amoniac, funny my father does not notice the stink of pee (amoniac) in the air. We live in England, there are tens of good floral smeling products or chemical products that smells good, why indians chose to clean their house with amoniac?

And why would you use the party dress/clothes someone already used and did not wash or dry cleaned?Let's say she does not stinks and she just returned it to you, would you just wear it right away and have it clean after?Even if she's a friend and even if you know she smells good, it is still hygienic to wash the dress or clothes she borrowed before you use it again.
By the way i had tried indian food in an indian restaurant here in Europe and i enjoyed the experience. The indian server and the restaurant itself are clean and do not smell bad. I also have one encounter with an indian lady who works in healthcare same as me. She offered me a ride in her car since the train was cancelled. She does not stinks and also her car smelled nothing.
That i think many indians are being stereotyped, sadly. But i cannot deny that there are some who really smelled like they did not take a bath for weeks!I remembered in a mall before in Thailand that a group of indian men (i did not saw them at first) entered a department store where i also do some window shopping then suddenly i inhaled a very strong smell of an armpit that i almost can't breath. I looked around to investigate where the smell came from, i saw some salespersons covering their nose and went away then i turned around again and i saw these indian men. They did not stayed longer and went again outside busy chatting with each other but the smell, as if they wrecked the entire store. The smell stayed longer than them entering the store...So i guess it has something to do with hygiene to some indians. I have a lot of bad experience with the smell but i do not see them as someone to be avoided but i am too shy to tell them of their smell. I had one german colleague before that she was with the same locker with this new indian colleague and because maybe she cannot hold the smell anymore she told this indian colleague to smell herself cause she stinks. She even suggested to her to use deo. After that german colleague disappeared, she cried...I do hope some indians will not experienced what she had but i also hope some indians will see this video as an awakening.

Hey Primiya,

First of all, you have addressed an important issue here, and I agree with most of the points you said on how we as Indians must take care of ourselves regarding our hygiene.
The only thing that I might want to address over here is that this issue is not only limited to Indians and hence your video at times sounded a bit condescending (please take it as a constructive criticism). A lot of people in Europe smell of cigarettes and alcohol, the meat they eat, especially their jackets and stuff, but they have never been considerate to us on that. So please don't be too apologetic if once in a while your jacket might smell masala. That might come out as your inferiority complex, though your intention was to be considerate. Travel in a highly packed public transport, and all the perfumes the people use, is quite irritating to me as I have perfume allergy. So there is nothing much we can do to address everyone's need, but as you said, basic hygiene and a bit of self awareness could help us in a long way!!

I think stench from people of a certain ethnicity is all dependent on the types of food they consume. If you live in India and are a vegetarian and then if you go to countries that eat a lot of meat, they smell like dead rotting flesh.
Conversely, if you are born and brought up in a country that eats a lot of meat, and you encounter an Indian tourist who is a vegetarian, you get the odour of old stale vegetables. It is quite simple to be honest 😂😂

In my country, Indian and White people have the stereotype for smelling funny. I believe it is just a matter of unfamiliar odor.
