Racial Capitalism, Segregation, and the Historical Roots of Health Inequities, 1880 1950

With the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 and the ensuing pandemic, racial health inequities in infectious disease once again came to the fore. In this lecture, Dr. Samuel Kelton Roberts, Jr., Ph.D., Associate Professor of History (Columbia University School of Arts & Sciences) and Associate Professor of Sociomedical Sciences (Mailman School of Public Health), provides some historical context and reflects on the roots of our current crisis.
