Vintage Art Deco Dresser Makeover

----------
In this makeover, I give a vintage waterfall dresser a sleek new look in charcoal black with dark walnut handles, all finished in satin.

I thrifted this dresser from Facebook Marketplace and picked it up locally for just $40. Structurally, it was in decent condition, with minimal repairs needed. Some of the drawer slides were on the verge of falling off as the nails holding them down were missing -- nothing that a couple of new nails and wood glue couldn't fix. Small dents in low-traffic areas (very little contact with hands or drawers) were filled in with wood filler. More problematic damages (peeled veneer in high-traffic areas) had to be filled in with Bondo, which is a tougher alternative that such areas demand.

The handles were sanded and then stained using a combination of dark walnut and black water-based wood stains -- the dark walnut alone wasn't as dark as I wanted, so the black really gave it that dark-chocolatey tint. I was going for a slight contrast with the charcoal black paint on the dresser, and I was thoroughly satisfied with the outcome. Both the handles and body were finished in satin for durability and to give it just a slight sheen.

Thank you for watching :)

Those pulls against the black... SO stunning. No pressure or anything but I hope you have more on the way!! If I were closer I'd just start bringing you pieces. I LOVE the hunt, but not the doing of the things. The small town I just moved from was full of stuuuuning pieces that people would just put at the end of the driveway. If I'd had a truck, furniture collecting would have been a big addiction for me lol.

Love the restoration/modernisation MO. Too many flippers use hardware and make additions to a piece that make no sense for the piece and are straight up ugly (dressers with stained wood tops and painted bodies/angular legs on round-edged pieces/hideous 'glazes'/'staining' wood with paint).

Amazing video- love the detail you put into your pieces. Question for you.. why did you hand paint instead of spray the piece? I noticed you sprayed the topcoat but not the paint. Thank you!

Man, I've said this before, but I'll say it again: you're an artist!
I have a technical question: how do you get your painting to end up so smooth? Do you find sand between coats? After the last coat? Is there any good reference for a newbie? Thanks!

I watch mostly female furniture flippers. So their approach is with more feminine colors. Glad I found you as I need a male approach as well. Good job 👍

I would absolutely love it if you could do a video filming HOW you film your videos. What cameras and equipment you use or just an extra angle filming the filming process.
