The New York Times recently published an article highlighting a growing gender gap at HBCUs. Jason and Shemeka Michelle discuss the reasons behind this trend. LGBTQ agendas are prevalent on college campuses, and HBCUs are no exception. Black men often remain silent on these issues, which may contribute to their reluctance to attend HBCUs.

In my experience black men are attending trade school. They don’t want all the college loans or a worthless degree. They want jobs that are need and aren’t easy to out source or replace with machines. For example plumbing

Gays and women control most publishing in this country

'If you are not gay? If not come to an HBCU and we can fix that" 😅😂🤣 I am dead!🥀⚰️

She’s right. Our homes are in shambles but every election year black women look to pick the politician to fix things that only a good father can fix or prevent.😮

A lot of black men are going to Trade schools or getting their CDLs... College is played out and a waste of money and time unless you're majoring in the medical field, law, engineering, business, or technology.

As a public school teacher getting back into teaching, being gay and trans is the new trend.

It's true. I teach at an HBCU. The few men on campus who are administrators are "GAY."

I remember when I was applying for college and I called Tuskegee. The lady on phone made it seem like she could care less if I went there. But when I called a big state university, they couldn’t stop calling me and rolled out the red carpet. You don’t have to guess where I went. My point is that there is a PR issue at some HBCUs

26 percent is a large percentage. However, when you have men like Toure’ advertising why black men should go to college, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see why a straight black man would say hell no.

That's because many of us as Black men view HBCUs similarly to how we see Black churches: as places that often prefer compliant individuals over truly masculine men. The real opportunities for growth and success can be found in trade schools and community colleges, where the right degree, license, or vocational training holds more value than a traditional four-year degree.

My dad graduated from Morehouse in the 70s I wanted to attend Morehouse for this reason by the time I graduated highschool in 2002 Morehouse was full-blown LGBTQ and I had to pass on that in fact I decided to not attend a university at all I join straight into the work force best decision I ever made

The college experience is trash now. Going to HBCU can destroy a lot of intelligent blk kids.

How funny you mention why black young men don't attend HBCU's, my son stayed two semesters at Morehouse and transferred to Georgia Tech, because it was to gay for him.... 😂😂😂😂

I don't think the educational gap is a real factor when women are getting degrees in advanced basket weaving.

HBCU’s went outta style when a different world went off tv, it’s literally been that long since they’ve been relevant.

Most men realize that college is a bum deal for most people. Go into debt for a piece of paper that may not get you a job.

I'm 66 years old.
Back in the day, an HBCU degree was a good leg up to join a prestigious corporation.
Now, I fear a corporation would suspect that you're coming with baggage.

This is so true. In 2001 my son was accepted to Morehouse, but he didn’t want to attend due to homosexuality/gay men.

My oldest is at a hbcu she’s over it, she graduates next year. My middle girl is on her way to another HBCU I honestly blame myself I did push it and now I feel terrible. My daughter did a internship over spring break and all they learned was DEI and respecting pronouns. Absolutely insane my daughter is afraid of the work world because everything seems to be centered about the alphabet crew and race.
