Great video and i'm glad you enjoyed my part of the world (great taste trail) - it really is awesome - come back and do the whole thing one day if you have time - no cars for 99% of it. I once rode through spooners without a light as my phone had died, that brings a smile to your face - ha ha. Been eagerly awaiting your first post of TA South and it didn’t disappoint what a lovely lovely video enjoyed it so much. At this point Murchison and the Buller River it’s time to recommend the books of Temple Sutherland ‘The Golden Bush’ and ‘Green Kiwi’ Golden Bush tells the true story of Bill Sutherland his wife Sam and their dog Angus of Windylea living their lives through the depression years of the 1930’s panning for Gold in this region of New Zealand… an absolute must read for anyone who loves NZ… especially while cycling through it. Green Kiwi is just pure joy and tells of Temples arrival in NZ from Scotland in the 1920’s as a young lad and falling in love with this Country, long out of print why Temple Sutherland books have never been dramatised for film or TV is such a shame.
Roy Sinclair also talks about this lovely part of NZ in his cycling book Route 6, thankfully these days we can watch Videos like this to give us a taste of riding bikes in this brilliant place, looking forward to episode 2. Definitely the best videos on YouTube for the TA.

Those rail trail tunnels are so fun. The Snoqualmie Tunnel on the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail in Washington State is the longest rail trail tunnel in the United States. It's 2.3 miles (3.7 km).

Tapawera Campground you didn't miss much by not getting a cabin. I stayed there on my tour and it was unique but good showers. The cycle way all the way way to Tapawera was just awesome to ride really a day without cars.
