I lived in Sitka in 2002 and my son still lives there. He actually worked at the food truck and the dumpling store. He is always outside hiking or camping. He loves it.❤

My husband and I visited Sitka back in 2019 on HAL. My mother is Russian, so it was nice to see the remaining Russian history in town. The Bishop's House upstairs tour was excellent and very informative!

I was in Sitka in 2021 with Holland America, right when cruising started back after COVID. I loved Sitka! I also went to the Raptor Center, and the bald eagles were intimidating! I got to see one relatively up close, and they are so beautiful. I also went to the Fortress of the Bears. When looking down at the brown bears in their shelter, I could see them lifting their heads and sniffing because I believe they could smell humans. Thank you for this video! Brought back some wonderful memories.

You gotta check out one of the boat tours with Gallant Adventures to see whales, sea otters and other wildlife!

Sitka Resident here... Glad you enjoyed my home! The streets close down when there is a lot of cruise guests in town. Its not really a street fair. The City does that when we have more visitors in town than locals. There are a few locals that come out, but not many walk the street when its closed. We are looking at limiting cruise ships as of 2025, and will have a vote on it this spring. The Cruise Ship terminal is privately owned, and added quite a bit of politics to town. South East Alaska Is WONDERFUL to see by boat and we are passionate out our environment as a lot of us in Sitka still hunt and fish for our food. I advise folks to take the smallest ship they can afford, and even better... take our ferry with the locals and stay a day or two! Alaskans love visitors, but don't like crowds. Hope you visit again! :)

I'm looking for information on the excursion that takes you in an open tram up into the rainforest. It appeared in this video but I didn't hear a vendor name.
