About Ade Swash
Welcome to my world of model engineering! My journey began in 2015 when I transformed my backyard into a creative sanctuary—complete with a custom-built engineering workshop. Armed with a trusty Myford ML7 hobby lathe, a Dore Westbury milling machine, a pillar drill, a bandsaw, and an array of hand tools, I dove headfirst into the art of crafting stationary steam engines.

What sets my work apart? Many of my engines are scratch-built from bar stock, designed on the fly without formal drawings. I take an idea, let it evolve organically during the build, and mix metric and imperial dimensions as needed. Sure, there are moments of trial and error (and maybe a few choice words!), but the thrill of seeing an engine come to life makes every minute worthwhile.

My workshop isn’t just a place for metal and machines—it’s my creative escape. It’s where I lose myself in the hum of machinery, free from distractions, as I shape raw materials into miniature marvels.

Recently, I’ve embraced the exciting world of model internal combustion engines. Owning and running some incredible commercially built engines has been a blast, but now my sights are set on crafting custom miniature engines from scratch. The possibilities are endless, and the adventure has only just begun!

Through my videos, I’m thrilled to share this journey of creativity, challenges, and learning. To anyone tuning in: peace and love to you all. Remember, we’re all here together on this amazing planet—make the most of every moment. Life’s too short not to create something extraordinary!

At the 10 minute mark you had it idling just like a real Harley.

So cool you can even tune the timing to get that lopey idle.

Superb engine and video Ade. I’m not a biker myself, but I’ve had many friends in the past who owned Harley’s. Have you any plans to build a Hoglet yourself? Cheers Nobby

Two stroke mix lubricates the bottom end, not the piston.
It shouldn’t matter in a four stroke.

The Musa “Hoglet” actually uses a micro reed switch, as opposed to a Hall Effect sensor… the reed switch is much more durable than the H E sensor.

I’ve put at least 30 hours on my Musa Hoglet w’ zero issues. Run mine on Coleman white gas & Marvel Mystery Oil. Once you get some hours of run time, she will run even better 🤙
