Showing this to non-Brits and watching their absolute uncomprehending horror, like they've just witnessed the Eldritch truth (and to be honest, I'm not sure that they haven't) is one of my favourite pastimes.

It scares me...

"His philosophy of life will steer him through" is very true. Who needs "I think therefore I am" when "Blobby blobby blobby" tells us so much more about the human condition.

Fun fact: if you lose Deal or No Deal, Mr Blobby is waiting to devour your soul backstage.

Even more scary is the key and tempo changes make this a more complicated song than 95% of what's on the radio

2:41 this is the last moment this man was seen alive. His last images are truly scarring. Wayne was a family man, a brick layer who went out on a Friday night and never came home. Just moments before his disappearance he called his wife, said that the club had just started playing a banger, and promptly hung up. She said he sounded hypnotised, it was very out of character for him to hang up on her. Scotland yard are urging people to come forward with any information that could lead to his whereabouts.

I had a vivid nightmare where this became the national anthem and the UK renamed itself officially to Blobbyland

There's little touches to this that make it even creepier and it's low-key brilliant:
Mr Blobby's voice is a lot deeper than it is in the show (it always sounded unsettling, but was never that demonic), the lighting is grimy and like something out of a snuff film, the kids all look dead-eyed (doubt that was acting) and the footage randomly slows down in a few bits where Blobby attacks someone. Bonus points for the scene where it looks like the kids are performing a demonic ritual at 0:47
Add that with the fact that this character wasn't supposed to be for kids initially and you just know the people who made this had the sole motivation of "let's make this as cursed as possible, it'll be hilarious."

This seems like the surface to a much deeper and darker conspiracy.

My mum played this to get drunk people out of nightclubs when she was a DJ. It worked too well apparently.

It stopped Take That from getting Christmas number one and for that single reason, we should all be eternally grateful.

Love going to pubs, putting this on and watching the reaction from afar.

Is that a threat?

This makes me both terrified and extremely proud to be British.

There's one simple and undeniable truth about this record: it only works because of the British sense of humour. It just doesn't work in any other country. But somehow it does work here (Christmas #1...) and that both appalls me and gives me great pride in equal measure :-)

Wait, was that Jeremy Clarkson driving at the start?!

Honestly I'm convinced that those people and kids were taken hostage by a monster, everyone looks unhappy and some people even attacked him.
