The main issue here that caused the tile installation to fail is the use of an unapproved method that is frowned upon by the tile industry, spot bonding. Spot bonding is prone to failure, it is often used to compensate for poor surface prep and used by unskilled and untrained installers. This method should be avoided at all costs. Great video. Seems to me it would take more time to spot bond than to do it the correct way. (you just don't know when contractors do bad jobs).😢

I've been in the tile trade since 1978 along with my family and have been doing Tile inspections for the past 13 years, you would be surprised how often I come across this, sometimes when you turn the hot water on and let the room steam up you can actually see the spot setting it really appears in light colored stone installations, destructive testing is the best lol

Sal at least they can reuse those big sheet of ceramic tiles, I feel really bad for the owners that they paid this person good money to do a good job just to see it come back down and have it done correctly brings tears to my eyes.

They should've atleast skimmed the back of the tiles with thin set

That is the same thing as when people use mortar behind on schluter board to lever walls, instead of using 2x4 .

Also that is not difference when people go to tile school and get taught to install only a certain amount of mortar behind tiles on walls and floor, and this is what you get

Not good practice and in this case pointless as the wall looks flat but if you used Bal FlexFibre like I do you wouldn't be taking them off like that 😂

Bad spot bonding cement was too thick and if you dont know how to spot bond youre not a real tile setter .

Go demand perfect walls ill appreciate the extta work 😂😂😂😂
