As an Aussie born and raised into the metric system I still prefer MOA. Why? Cause I’m 6 foot 1 (yep, imperial) and one of my steps is a yard. Simple as that.

Moa is not imperial, and mil radian is not metric. They are both angular measures.

mils for speed, moa for fine measurements.
It all depends on the application, there is no better one! In PRS, where we need to make 12 shots on steel, 3 different positions under 115 seconds at 600, 700, and 900 yards. Mils takes much less clicking and its easier do hold overs for wind.
In F-class, moa all day, speed is not really a factor but pure precision is!

I am also fluent in freedom unit but I still find mils way faster to use. With that said I respect the the patriotism

I'm not sure what the argument here is... When somebody in one of those countries who use the metric system has to make a shot at 836 yards they have to ask permission from their government.

MOA is actually much easier to use and its slightly more precise than MILS

The thing that gets me is that MIL isn't even based on SI measurements, it's just decimalized. It's sole superiority lies in ranging using the reticle, and maybe in holding over because the eye is good at guessing tenths of a given space. That's it.

I measure range by meters, velocity by m/s, bullet weight by grain, and use MOA. Doing gun math is hell for me, but that's how my brain decided to measure each

Funny enough, I've been shooting with MOA scopes my whole life but use meters as target distances, and it's not all that complicated but the other day I tried out my dad's MRAD scope and it was honestly so dumbed down and easy to use!

If I could start again I'd use MRAD in terms of meters but it really doesn't matter all that much, MOA works just as well!

Learned MOA before MILs were cool. All my old stuff is MOA, I’m not changing and have the intelligence to use both. I practice and prefer a clean reticle.
