Blue-Eared Kingfisher, Alcedo meninting 15cm, is more of a forest bird than the Common Kingfisher and more likely to occur along inland rivers and streams in lowland primary forest but also found in coastal swamps and mangroves. Male has orange at base of lower bill. Female lower bill is all orange. Juvenile has rufous instead of blue ear coverts.
