If you spill over the armrest, you should be charged for two seats.

My boss used to buy 2 seats to fly although his employer paid for it. He weighed 400 lbs and 6'8" tall but at least he was respectful by purchasing 2 seats.

Larger people are charged more for 2x, 3x, ... clothing because it costs more material to make. No reason they shouldn't be charged for two seats if they are occupying both.

As someone who is over weight ( not morbidly) I personally think that this " fat praising" is disgusting, I am post menopausal and have gained my weight because of my aging, Im struggling with loosing my weight, but I am successful in keeping it from getting beyond 180, some people are just nasty and wants everyone else to approve and support them.

If I paid for my whole seat I insist that I should not be forced to share it with their person next to me because they are abnormally large.

For a while I had to fly a lot for business and was just over 300 pounds. The seats were small and uncomfortable for me not to mention the the person/people that I sat next to on the plane. I looked at buying two seats, but then quickly realized that it was cheaper just to buy a first class seat (which are 30% larger than Coach seats). Pay the extra $100 dollars, make my travel comfortable, those around me more comfortable, & I will take responsibility for my own weight. Just take responsibility for one's own body.

As someone who’s 6’6 and always has to buy at minimum main cabin plus for the extra leg room so I even fit, can I use the “costumer of size policy?” Feel like if anyone gets extra room for free, it should be for people who literally can’t control how tall they are

Southwest is now giving extra seats for heavy people who exceed the armrests. There are lots of men with shoulders and arms that exceed those same armrests. Not The Rock, just lots of average guys. Uncomfortable for people next to them and I assume themselves. How about tall people? Where does this end?

I was in a line for boarding one time and I overheard a very overweight guy tell his buddy "Don't worry I paid for two seats". Respect.

I had to sit next to a woman who must have weighed 400 pounds. I had the window seat.
Thank God it was a short flight!

I’m 5’8”, only about four inches taller than the average woman, and can easily fit comfortably in an airplane seat, with room to spare.
However, I wear a 36” inseam and my knees get mashed by the seat in front of me. So if the airlines would be so kind as to remove the seat in front of me when I board that would be greaaat. Thank you. /s

I find it hard to believe, that woman is told "daily", she shouldn't fly. Unless of course she's talking about it daily, then I can believe that.

I'm 5'2, " 130 pounds, and airline seats are painful to me. Yes, they need to make them larger. Not large enough for a 400 pound person, but large enough for a healthy weight person.

What about the people whose personal space is invaded when they’re trying to be polite and mind their own business? My 6’3” husband was assigned a middle seat in a packed flight. I know him. He is so respectful of others and has years of travel behind him. He never complains. A huge woman next to him made no attempt to keep her legs or arms close to her body and by the time my husband got off that flight he had been sweated on down an entire side of one leg.

If you can pay the extra money for more food, you can pay the extra money for another seat.

And, yes, I know that some people have thyroid issues or take medications that make losing weight difficult, but those conditions only cover a minority of people with obesity. Genetic factors, family-taught preferences, or eating disorders do not excuse someone’s avoidance of losing weight. I know from experience as someone who has a very obese family on all sides, being morbidly obese and expecting people to pretend like it isn't harmful to your health or obstructive to others displays entitlement. People in my family tell me that I'm too skinny or that eating less or exercising is unnecessary, but I know that by being young and establishing healthy eating and exercise practices in my body now, I can maintain these healthy practices when I'm older and my metabolism slows.

Its simply unfair to pay for a seat only to have someone else's armpits covering your face for the entire flight

They are now giving an extra seat for FREE to fat flyers on I think Southwest(?) A woman was bumped off the flight that was not overbooked because a "person of size" 🙄 was given a free extra seat. This woman and her two teenagers, paying customers, had to get another flight because her seat was given to an obese person for free. Unbelievable.

Its called self control and healthy guidelines and lifestyle choices. Dont blame others for your size or body image issues.

If your seat wants to move with you when you stand up, you need to be charged for 2 seats.

I support airlines selling a second seat for larger passengers for a discount based on the first seat cost covers the cost of ticketing and luggage .
