Its like a rabbi asking Hitler to consider embracing Judaism. But I must admit, the monk had balls.

I'm Christian (Not Protestant)!

The real story is that the Pope sent Sultan Murad a letter giving him congratulations and offering to crown him king of Christendom if he became Catholic. Sultan Murad laughed and in response, he sent a cordial message thanking the Pope and informing him that he is a follower of Muhammad and will die a Muslim. This Turkish drama is making it look like a big deal when it wasn't.

Honestly, that’s actually a good way to get out of being tortured.

Murad shouldn't get offended, he's too hot headed in this scene. The pastor done that because he knew exactly that was Murad going to do. Essentially sacrificing himself so he can escape interrogation. Now he lose the only main lead he has.

So, the monk died an easy death on his own terms and became a saint as a bonus. The Turks did not get the info they needed. Nice.

A priest, supposedly a Templar, close to Pope Urban, reciting Patre Nostrum in vulgar latin?! Ha!
Idk if this was part of the creative liberty of the series, but there were no templars in 1500 nor there were roman catholic priests praying in vulgar latin. By this time, there were few to no commoners speaking latin, and nobles, merchants, clergymen all spoke liturgical latin, which isn't what he is speaking.

The monk escaped torture, since he'd die anyway. And not only the Ottomans did not get Rome, their empire ended through the folly of joining World War 1.... 😂😂

The knights Templar. They had more or less ceased to exist for 300 years at this point. Sultan Murad please read a history book before killing priests.

Father Lorenzo is one hell of an idiot, "inviting" (more like requesting) the devout leader of a grand Muslim-majority empire to convert to Christianity on a rooftop... (And I'm a Catholic). I like that Murad does say he respects Christianity though, under the Ottoman millet system Jews and Christians were protected and at least suffered far less than their non-Christian counterparts in Christian Europe.

The priest would technically be in heaven because he died attempting to preach Christianity.
