As a British person I was shocked at the way she was treated when she was here and even now that she has left, people have a lot of anger towards her for no reason. It makes me feel sick, the royal family members has stolen artefacts from colonies and has members accused of child rape, the queen spent 400 million of our taxpayer money on decorating her house last year but they didn’t have any form of backlash for it. It’s disgusting. We need to get rid of these royals.

If someone in a romantic relationship was pressured to abandon their connections outside of that relationship and pressured to stay indoors constantly, we would be talking about it as an abusive and damaging relationship. Why is the language around the issue minimized when an institution does it? That's "tough"? That's abusive. That's harmful. Her feelings are valid and a lot of us can only imagine the extreme pressure she was under.

The "they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family" is referring to Prince Andrew, who has serious allegations against him of paedophilia / associating with human traffickers. The allegations have never been properly addressed by the royal family, they have protected him much to the distress of the British public

The “were you silenced or silent” line was truly iconic. Oprah knew she was gonna shake the table with that one. 😂

I live in England, and in my mind what they do as extended Royal or ex Royal family really is nobody else's business. I'm sick of people saying Harry looks sad, Harry is under the thumb nonsense. Harry is pretty much a middle age man, he has finally settled down after a wild youth party boy soldier and has now matured into a fine family man. He has a beautiful wife and I think there are a lot of people who are just jealous of her. She is a woman who was independent with a great career before she married Harry so its not like she married for money. Maybe they just get along and Harry is simply sick and tired of all this nonsense and maybe if anything is making him unhappy ( which I don't see) its all this stupid nonsense about his choice of wife.

I’m an American and consider myself progressive and I don’t pay much attention to celebrity in general but I did watch this interview and I was amazed at how transparently contrived it seemed. What are Meghan and Harry trying to accomplish in this interview? From my experience and perspective the US has little understanding of the role of the monarchy, and this is exploited by Meghan who comes across as a classic narcissist. Even this person analyzing this interview is admitting he doesn’t really understand the culture and micro culture of the royal family. Harry and Meghan had titled and certain privileges as part of a job. When you quit your job you don’t get to keep the title and paycheck. The British people and tabloids loved Meghan and their wedding. All the royals have issues with the tabloids.

What I don't understand about her is why she misrepresents stuff when she has legitimate complaints. The stuff about Archie's title is false, the stuff about no one teaching her about royalty false, the mental health thing has to have been some kinda misunderstanding cause quite a few have discussed their own therapy. I don't think she has much credibility.

Can you do a video about the effects of not having a consistent caregiver in those developmental years? As someone who lived in seven random families before the age of 7, I’ve always wanted to know more about how that has effected me.

I’m reading the book of attachment theory and love it. I developed an anxious attachment system.

Watching some peoples negative reactions to Meghan and Harry is sooo triggering. I wasn't going to watch the interview. But I feel I can watch this version of it knowing Dr. Honda is going to give it the care and validation it deserves.

I'm a brit and my dad doesn't like Megan because she's an American, he really doesn't like Americans. I think it's a mix of racism and dislike of Americans

I am baffled by the amount of people who care about the royal family. It seems like such a media distraction from the real problems.

Fergie did an interview with Oprah in 1996. She made it sound like she lived in a dark room in the palace. No thanks!

12:20 I guess she was implying that Andrew was protected and that they were willing to lie for him, but unwilling to say the truth for her and her husband

The tabloids around this issue: are horrendous.

And not even the tabloids, tbh, even the high-minded papers are in on the act - the Telegraph this week ran an opinion piece which said that "The saddest thing is that Wallis and Edward, despite being banished, were dutiful and patriotic to the end...Meghan and Harry, who took it upon themselves to leave Britain, seem unlikely to display similar loyalty to the Crown on Oprah tonight".

Even if you think that Harry abandoned his duty to the Crown and the Nation by quitting, can we *really* say that it was a bigger dereliction of duty than that of his grandmother's uncle, who was in the family bad books because he ABDICATED THE THRONE in order to marry Wallis Simpson?

The same Edward and Wallis who were also fascist symapthisers? These people are in pictures with Hitler, but it's Meghan and Harry's 'loyalty to the Crown' we're calling into question, is it.

So yes it's bad lol

Oof. The part about avoidant attachment and a disengaged family hit hard. I come from an abusive family and it's 100% as you describe. Their behavior is polite but at a deeper level, it's really cold. On paper, everything looks good and well, but also everything is kept very shallow. None of us really know each other. Emotional displays or emotional conversations are not welcome, and are considered troublesome or even punished. It's an incredibly painful and confusing environment to grow up in, and I imagine coming into that world without having been a part already would be so awful. Being born into it was awful. Joining... and having the power to leave? Leave. She's right to address that type of emotional abuse and neglect.

If by “do good in society” you mean to commit genocide and colonize almost every country in the entire world, then yeah separation from the people is necessary
