In this long-awaited series, we finally delve into the historical origins of William Brahman & the impact of his movement known as "The Message".

In part 1, we begin in the early 1920s & look at how famous historical events like the prohibition movement, the origins of the Klu Klux Klan & the infamous propaganda film "Birth of a nation" affected Branham's upbringing and how that led his family to Jeffersonville, Indiana where Branham would start the "The Message" movement.
We also examine Branham's historical childhood in Indiana to see how it compares to the "Kentucky childhood" used by his stage persona.
How exactly did a mass religious movement that has affected millions of people to this day start in a crime-filled town frequented by Al Capone & John Dillinger, & many others?

I grew up in this cult. It is so difficult to explain my upbringing and background to people because a majority of people have never heard of Branham nor his teachings. I appreciate this being brought to light. Also, I’m open to answer questions as well (:

I grew up in this and my dad is still the pastor of a church who follows Branham's teachings... if you ever want more insight let me know!

I’ve had a personal experience with this people. I dated a guy who believed in him. I’m a Christian who believes that my personal relationship with God is more important than anything else. His family would judge me and call me a unbeliever of Christ without any shame. They were soo quick to point out mode of dressing, my nails and even wearing heals as a sin and forget themselves.

The kids would go to church on Sunday and party and smoke weed on Saturday and still tell you that you are a unbeliever of Christ.

They preach Branham teachings more than they read the bible.

They are helplessly miserable in the name of “ That’s what prophet teaches”

Personally, I thank God everyday for getting me out of that relationship. I hope to find the truth one day.

Coming out of a family associated with crime families is more spectacular then a story about growing up in the woods of Kentucky. You would think he would have stuck with his original upbringing as people would be more mesmerized.

I was immediately interested as a dear uncle followed him closely. He gave me tapes in the 90s & I listened to a few sermons - never thought anything special
about his teaching. What I thought odd was how my uncle believed this man to be the ultimate messenger & would only listen to him.

It’s amazing, isn’t it?! To be born, raised, brainwashed/indoctrinated, & completely enraptured in lies & deceit; yet God’s plans will not be overlooked, nor suppressed. U can’t help but be in complete awe of our heavenly FATHER. How great he Is. How many ppl have been or will be saved from this cult because of this mans enlightenment? Glory to God!

Reading about Branham on Wikipedia really helped me understand this video. I was confused even after watching over 1/2 the vid as I didn't know who they were talking about.
I agree with others, @cultish please start with a little back story before diving into the story.

I'm also an ex-message believer. I was entangled in it by one of my uncles during 10 years of my life and now I'm out of this mind prison for 13 years. I also know John Collins and I watch his podcast every Monday to have more informations 👌🏾 it's like a huge therapy to me.

This is amazing timing...i live like 5 minutes from the william branham tabernacle in jeff, in. A couple of friends and I have been praying for the ppl of this "cult" for a couple months now. We managed to get one member out. Then about a week into our prayer meetings some of us started getting physically ill, and other things were happening...there is a dark presence around this cult...pray for God to open the eyes of the members and lead them to Jesus Christ!

You should’ve given more history and an overview at the beginning of this cult and how many people they have as members and what they believe.

I wouldn’t be in John Collins for a Trillion Dollars! Brother Collins has been in our home! Wonderful brother! I was sitting Behind Brother Way when he had a heart attack! He was raised from the dead! I’ve seen a friend of mine that was on her Deathbed with cancer! The doctor said she wouldn’t live through the night! But Brother Branham prayed for her! She was healed! She lived 25 years longer! I’ve seen many many miracles in all these years! Brother Branham has been a part of my life for 69 years! Nothing but good to say about him! I’ll take John Collins’ portion anytime if he can part with it so easily! I love the Branham and Collins family & all of God’s children!

I was raised in the Message. Total nonsense. Took me 16 years to understand what they were actually saying to me. The level of racism, sexism, and narcissistic abuse hardwired into this "church" is wild. Hard to explain the level of psychological damage it can cause.
If anyone needs footage, audio, or has questions, I can answer all. I would really love someone to do a deep dive and cover the history AND the way it is used in the world today. Part of the problem isn't necessarily Branham himself, but the pastors today who take it and run with it. There is a reason no two churches believe the same thing, they all need to believe that it's just them who believe the truth in order to keep the narrative of persecution.

William Branham is an influential figure in most charismatics movements, but they would like to forget about him.

Just discovering this video from a friend. We both grew up in this and find this fascinating. Can’t wait to see the rest! We’re Big fans of Investigation Discovery channel and this is something along those lines, but cults might even be a better, more intriguing topic 🧐.

A girl I know is in the cult. Her family had her marry a 52 year old man when she was 18. She's now 30 and he's 64 years old and she's had 4 kids by him 😭. Is that common in branham? And they didn't let the girls finish school either? Her parents have 11 kids.
