The fact that this has become a viral fascination recently shows that electric guitarists should really have their instrument explained to them a little better. By not understanding how strings interact with pickups, not only are guitarists missing out on tons of possible effects, but it also allows guitar companies to prey on ignorant consumers and misrepresent how tone is formed in their instruments.

It's weird that this is "new" I've seen several yt vids about this recently and I find it hard to believe that nobody figured this out before hand. I did a lot of drugs too and I can imagine lots of guitarists doing this while high. I guess it was never recorded? I haven't looked it up. Maybe this is one of those fad things that does fad things.
