Donald Trump Rushed Off Pennsylvania Stage After Shots Fired During Rally

One attendee is dead, and the suspected gunman has been killed after shots were fired at a rally for former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, according to the Butler County district attorney. Two others are critically injured, According to The Associated Press.
Donald Trump was rushed off the stage after the gunshots rang out at the rally. He later said he is "fine" and being checked at a medical facility.
In a statement, Donald Trump said:
I want to thank the United States Secret Service, and all of the Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly I want extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA.
President Joe Biden released a statement regarding the shooting at Donald Trump's Pennsylvania Rally:
I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania. I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information. Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.
Trump was showing off a chart of border crossing numbers when bangs started ringing through the crowd. Trump could be seen reaching with his right hand toward his neck. There appeared to be blood on his face.
He quickly ducked behind the riser as agents from his protective detail rushed the stage and screams rang out from the crowd. The bangs continued as agents tended to him on stage.
His motorcade has left the venue.
A senior government official confirmed to CBS News that the former president is safe.
"We have implemented protective security measures. This is being investigated further," the official said.
His condition was not immediately known.
A Trump spokesman said in a statement, "President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow."
A White House spokesperson said that President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris "has received an initial briefing on the incident."
Donald Trump Jr. tweeted a photo of the incident and wrote, "He'll never stop fighting to Save America."
North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, considered a possible choice for Trump's running mate, posted on social media, "Please join Kathryn and me in praying for President Trump, his family and everyone attending the rally today."
