A 15 second Instagram post where he covered Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me’ ended up being shared on a music site in Spain. This inspired the young singer to continue sharing his covers and realise his potential to reach people with his music. At 17-years-old he auditioned for ‘X Factor Australia’ in 2015 where he sung a cover of Nick Jonas’ ‘Chains’. The judging panel included Danni Minogue, James Blunt, Chris Isaac and Australia’s first Eurovision representative Guy Sebastian. Andrew smashed his audition becoming one of the 20 successful acts making it into the “Boys” category.
@AndrewLambrou has a wide range of musical influences from The Weeknd and Michael Jackson, which you can definitely hear in his original music, to Charlie Puth and Bruno Mars. He also admires musicians who write musical scores for films like Ludwig Goransson and Hans Zimmer. After years of posting his viral covers, Andrew transitioned to writing music of his own. At just 17-years-old, Sony ATV publishing had their eye on him, he ended up signing with Maree Hamblion.
In an interesting Eurovision connection, all three of his singles have been produced by Dave Hammer. Dave co-wrote and produced Montaigne’s Eurovision 2021 song ‘Technicolour’. He also has worked with Australia Decides artist Jaguar Jonze as recently as this year working on her ‘ANTIHERO’ EP.
INTERVIEW HIGHLIGHTS
He hasn't visited Greece or Cyprus yet but he plans to do so soon following his father's advise
He loves Eurovision ever since he remembers himself alongside his family. As a musician, he discovered music when he was very young and the stage of Eurovision inspired him. Helena Paparizou's victory marked his memories in Eurovision, a victory that was huge in Australia.
He submitted the specific song because he wanted to share this specific vibe his song has with the European audience.
He wants to express himself in the Eurovision world.
Regarding his national final performance, he will be mixing himself and what he is with an energetic and emotional presentation.
His ideal stage presentation if no restrictions applied, would be to present himself as a superhero.
The meaning of the song refers to meeting someone that gives you electricity, the definition of the chemistry of strong connection as it happens with everything that impacts us in life.
He works out and loves taking care of himself as he used to be a chubby guy and ate a lot.
