Once upon a time, extremely wealthy people bought their own planes. Later, other rich people realized they could buy shares in a jet instead of owning one since rare was the person who needed to use it on a daily basis. Today, alternatives to commercial air travel are entering the “Uber age,” making airplane travel an on-demand perk as accessible as ordering up a car.

The “empty leg”, also referred to as “repositioning flight” refers to a situation when the airplane has no passengers for the flight. This can happen in a number of situations but the most common is someone chartered an aircraft for a one-way flight only so the flight back is empty. Instead of wasting a trip, airlines thought why not sell the ride back on sale and make some extra money.

I wanted to clarify, for the empty leg flights the entire flight has to be booked so you’d have to get a few friends or a group of people with you to make it a few hundred each.

You can find commercial private jet flights through airlines like JSX, Boutique Air, Aero, Surf Air, etc. for super cheap either way though which is how my editor got the flights shown at the end of the video for anyone wanting to book lol hope this helps and sorry for any confusion!
