In mid-September 2022, some college friends & visited the Lost Creek Wilderness of Colorado's Pike National Forest for 4 days (3 of which were spent hiking). For many of them, this was their first backpacking experience. Overall, the hike was incredible. The constant change in scenery - thick pinewood forests, lush aspen groves (which were starting to turn golden for the fall), wide open meadows, red rock gulches and rugged mountain ridges - makes for an incredibly diverse hike. Early September saw lots of rain in the area, so water sources were plentiful - but luckily we avoided the brunt of the rain (aside from a slight drizzle one night).
