Stanley Kubrick is definitely a great filmmaker, his movies speak for itself but his behaviour off-screen or the way he approaches to make things work is not right, that's not how a professional director should act like. Its extremely sad, that someone of this stature behaved impatiently continuously when his primary job is exactly to be patient in the first place. Filmmaking is one of the toughest job.

Kubrick having one of his many piss fits he was know for. The dude was talented but a little psychotic. Shelley was right, she was receiving mixed signals. I like how she brought the knife out from behind the door to back him off. He actually flinched a little. LOL!

Based on the comments, I’m realizing some people don’t understand that you can be both a creative genius AND practice patience and communication. It’s apart of the job when you’re working with so many people and they’re working to make your vision come to life. You’re not a good director if you lack the patience to direct people. Skill issue on Stanley’s part.

I don’t think the criticism I’ve read about Kubrick’s conduct here is justified. While Stanley is obviously frustrated, he doesn’t raise his voice or lose his temper, but remains polite and professional throughout.

People can appreciate Kubrick’s films but it’s important to note that he’s a horrible person with no redeeming qualities and what he did to Duvall on the set of the shining is proof of that.

Her acting was incredible, but I don't like the way he treats people here. Miscommunication makes him angry? Boo f*ckin hoo, there's an enormous loud thing in the sky and she's behind a door, there's a lot of interruption even with walkie talkie. Do better.
