2017 GM Truck ABS TCS Lights On. C0050

This Sierra has the ABS light on and active code C0050 for circuit failure of the right rear speed sensor. Found the corroded wire using a graphing ohm meter.

What would cause that little tear in the insulation that caused the corrosion ? Would that have been like that from day 1?
