Versus #24 - Toybiz Man-Thing vs Hasbro Marvel Legends BAF Man-Thing

It's Toybiz original Marvel Legends Man-Thing from 2004 versus the 2017 Marvel Legends Netflix Wave BAF Man-Thing.

When it comes to Man-Thing there aren't a ton of requirements for a good figure so is it worth it to spend all the money to build the Build-A-Figure Man-Thing or should you just hit eBay for the Toybiz Man-Thing?

This is one of those subjective figures where none is "better" design wise but toybiz one did actually provide a better paintjob, articulation and accessories

if you want to make good poses with a man-thing the best is toybiz but if you really like man-thing especially in the comics you should get the marvel legends one and I personally like the marvel legends one

One thing you were wrong about; Man-Thing doesn't "thrive" on fear. In point of fact, another being's fear causes him great pain and when it happens, he attempts to snuff the source of that fear/pain out ergo; "whosoever knows fear, burns at the Man-Thing's touch"!

Generic Comment of Outrage! I like the cleanliness of the sculpt of the Hasbro fig especially in the face department. But it is a swamp monster so cleanliness need not apply. Awesome video.

This ties into a problem I've had for many years now, that the push among collectors for more articulation in figures has destroyed the aesthetic appeal of the figure's sculpt. The Toybiz Man-Thing is a perfect example of this, I'd never own a depiction of one of my favorite characters that looked like the artist had no love for the subject, simply because it has more poseability. However, the new figure is an excellent interpretation of Mike Ploog's and Frank Brunner's art. Based on several other comments in this thread, I don't think I'm the only one who wants figures that look cool, not just one's you can give more elaborate poses. I'm so sick of seeing what could have been great looking figure designs ruined by ugly, unrealistic looking ball and socket articulation points at the hips and shoulders. I have yet to see a single female figure in the domestic market that has a realistic feel to the sculpt of the lower torso unless the area is disguised by clothing, but figure's in the Japanese market often find elegant solutions to these design issues. It makes me feel like domestic toy companies all assume the collector market are either little kids or sweaty nerds who have no artistic sensibility. I want to buy these sculptors a book of human anatomy and say "do a little homework"!
